Possibly the TPS and/or APPS. Is the check engine light on now? If you have an OBDII scanner you could check for any codes that if present would point to the problem.

No, all is fine like nothing ever happened. She drive another 45mi home and all ok. I'm going to start with the fuel filter and go from there. Don't know what TPS or APPS is but I'm heading to the search. Thanks for all input so far

Throttle Position Sensor and Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor.

I had the exact same problem on my 95 PU. Turned out to be the Circuit Opening Relay that controls the fuel pump. It was very intermittent and hell to figure out. I don't know if the Hundy has the same relay but might be worth looking into.

APPS and TPS usually result in a CEL being set and the truck going to a safety mode rather than dying. (WAG 30%)

The fuel pump and it's wiring seems more likely. (WAG 50%)

I've had that happen before in a Pathfinder and the culprit was a bad cam sensor. One of the few sensors that will stop the engine cold. Don't know if it will in the LC for sure. It was intermittent and would always restart some amount of time. It would also always throw a code.

I had the same thing happen in the previous 100... it was a bad cam sensor. Happened to us twice over 60 miles. No CEL, tough as hell to diagnose. We were in the middle of a trip so had to take it to a dealer and got a rental. They kept it for a week hooked up to diagnostic computer, driving it around trying to get it to repeat and finally it did.

Worth looking in to.

mine died on both....started acting up, all warning lights came on (including abs, atrac, trac-control, ect.), basically had to roll to a stop (wouldnt allow acceleration). once stoped the truck shut off. took about 2 or 3 mins each time to get it going again. once started it was straight to the dealer with the truck feeling like it was just limping along. wierd thing is there was no noticable signs that something was going bad. just went.

-do agree that this may not be the o.p.'s problem as all the lights dingers ect will be going.

-what was the fuel level?

Well, it's been almost two weeks and it hasen't happened again. I replaced the fuel filter this weekend (it's been a VERY long time since that was done) and i'm hoping that had something to do with it but really don't know as the car was running great before too. Got a little more info from my wife, she had actually exited the interstate and was making a slow left turn when it cut off. I searched and found some other posts with similar problems...Oh well, back to search and diagnose. Hope i figure this out before it causes any issues with the family in the car.

Check the air filter. Had a mouse climb into mine and chew up the paper. A tiny piece of one of his scraps got pulled into the intake tube and fit perfectly over the MAF. Truck died instantly. Mine wouldn't re-start because the paper folded over the MAF and didn't fall off when the engine died. Had it fallen off, the truck would have started right up and ran perfectly and had no further symptoms or CELs.

I changed the fuel filter, checked fuel pressure, checked relays, etc. Truck seemed like it just wouldn't fire. Opened up the airbox and saw the hole in the paper filter about the size of a golf ball. Peeked into the intake at the MAF and it had a tiny piece of filter about the size of a pea folded over the wire. I VERY GENTLY AND CAREFULLY removed the paper and the truck fired right up.

Now that it's cold out (and the little critters are looking for a warm place to hide), it's worth checking and takes all of 30-seconds.

hi there,it happened to me down in costa rica cruising back from the panama canal ,it takes about an hour take a q-tip alcohol and get to the air mass sensor clean the filamet slow and easy,be careful not to damage that,s why it takes about an hour cause you have to clean the duct from the air filter to where the sensor is located, you would be amazed how much crap is accumulated there, good luck
