went out and had a little fun today :)

YouTube - P1014750

The camera battery died so i did not get more footage, but it was a fun day out.
Some slick clay ruts out there too today.

Did a fun little trail called hoodraiser, was pretty fun but a muddy mess lol
Do you guys prefer to have it in 4wheel low or high on muddy/rutty up hills?

it is steeper than it looks by the way, the camera flattens it out lol :D

How's the rig coming along...have you buttoned up all the little loose ends yet? Nice little vid Destin.

I perfer low range just because there is less chances of losing control going slow. No rollbar take it safe. Rather roll back down a hill then go sideways half way up. My 68 was setup with the same gearing from the factory as you 64. Never really had any problem creeping up hills when I have traction. Had my hard top on most of the time so it was top heavy compared to a soft top but offered more protection if I did roll. The more you drive the more you will know what it's safe to be doing. Take it slow.Remember with no rollbar you have very little protection if you do roll it. The only time I put my 68 on it's side was on a icey road in Lake Tahoe in the fall of 75. Never felt close to ever rolling off road. But I enjoy being off road and don't feel any need to rush. I get more than I want of ran race living in a big city.

Be Safe:cheers:

thanks guys most of the loose end are buttoned up.

I just realized when i was out on the trail i never had to put it in 4 wheel low before, so i did not want to test it on the trail :) Seems like 4 wheel high has worked well for most things so far, but on the steeper stuff i could see how low would be nice :) Having no row bar feels super obvious when your out on some steeper climbs :) We went up the lower part of Cedar tree trail, and it had a lot of loose scrag rock, but four wheel high did ok, but i think it would have been much more tame in 4 wheel low :)

I wish my camera had kept charged, it was a beautiful day up there :)

I woulda been in 4low in ur vid. I like to idle along in 1st or 2nd gear in 4low. Its quieter, smoother, and easier on your rig.

Ohhh and stuff over here is as mellow or wild as you want to make it.
I am a big wuss with my old rig...so keep it on the mellow'r side!
Not really into rock crawling either...thats what my Montesa Trials moto is for!!!!! ;-)
Mainly I dig just exploring the endless small 2tracks...with a few pucker moments tossed in here and there.
Snow level is rising...for now. I live at 4200 feet south of Sun River and have 0 snow left here.

Nice man :)

Yeah i need to make sure my 4low is working well ( never tested it ) and then use it more often on the trail, but i could see how on decent and accent I could have way more control :)

Yeah I love to go visit the bend area, maybe i should go next week.
Snow level low enough to cruise some double track?

Thanks guys :)

Destin do you have a pic of the manifold gasket that you used ?

hmmmm.

I do not think so, let me look through my photos, but i do not believe I took any photos of the manifold gasket. It was a toyota gasket i believe. Are you in the process of replacing yours?

I have some photos from yesterdays outing, not sure if they turned out, was cruising around solo so no videos :)

put that biotch in low and don't worry bout it. ;) man your cruiser is lookin good.

jonny, he's got a Siamese F. we know nothin about those gaskets in this corner :D
