Hey Destin,

Don't mean to further discourage you from driving on the beach, cause it sure looks fun and I want to do it too, but I have a scary anecdote to share about this.

A couple of years ago I worked at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, and our group had a couple of built up ATVs that they'd take out on the beach with instrumentation aboard to record the beach topography, erosion and accretion. Every single time they were used, they'd thoroughly spray the ATVs down with Salt-Away and then fresh water. Even with this pretty thorough maintenance, and the modern materials and coatings on the ATVs, they'd have to be replaced about every two years. These things seriously looked like the Titanic by the time they'd throw them out, and it happened in a disturbingly short time span.

So yeah, salt is NASTY stuff, and I'd stay as far away from it as possible. I live a couple miles from the beach as the crow flies, and I worry about the salt that's just in the air, combined with the morning moisture, causing corrosion on my 40

I always wonder about Surf N' Turf, which is the Cruiser event down here in SoCal. I guess if you only do it once a year, stay away from the wet sand, and wash down afterward, it must be OK!

yeah I am trying to find a good vintage looking skinnys all around that would work but it might not be possible

...unless someone can share some negative comments about these tires, these are the tires I plan on buying; Yokohama Y742S

From what I've read (very little out there actually to read) they should be just fine for the kind of driving I have in mind...which unfortunately might not be for a while...we'll see.

Unless a vehicle is going in a museum it should have modern tires to run on the road. At least that's my .02

really liked the toyo m-55's i had in the past...very simple design...also the cooper discover s/t ....is nice also...however coopers numbers on sizes are a bit of an overexageration...both come in 16" sizes

if your looking for agressive...simex is cool and in radial and alil smaller than 33"

you would be looking for a more stock looking tire however i bet

yeah kinda looking for a nice middle ground, good offroad, decent on the wet and in the snow.

Bias plys I am running now are not so awesome in the snow haha, but do awesome in the dirt

I think i need to keep an eye out for some decent priced old steelies and jsut have two sets i can pop on an doff at will summer tires and then wet season

Do not have the cash right now but soon, and fog lights too

And dude, before you start driving over stuff that requires lockers, you need to put a roll bar on that puppy!

they did make stock rowbars

hehe

Yeah the absence of a row bar comes super apparent when you start to get a little off camber

I have never found my self totally stuck at all so far, so i probably do not need a locker per say, but I need to rebuild my winch for some insurance

Maybe this weekend

Get yourself a banger and prepare it for trails. You will never forgive yourself if you wreck this one. Once you find out what they are capable of you will try to move the boundry's until you cross them.

Maybe get a beater truck down the road, but I am gonna be careful in themeantime and drive it like it was meant to be driven ( not doing anything hardcore here fellas, just doubletrack / jeep trails, no rick crawling )

But i hear ya, theses things are damn billy goats on the hills
It is like racing motorbikes at the track, every corner you want to enter and exit faster and faster until you find the sweet spot before you push the tires and throttle control to the limit hehe >,

I will resist that temptation for the sake of the truck, it is not like my track bike
