....hope all goes well !!!

thanks man

Maybe i should have brought it to a bigger shop to install it, might have paid more but had it done asap... been a few weeks already...

I am just trying to be patient and stay the course so to speak and hope things get done well and as timely as possible.

But it think it just comes down to anytime you pay someone to do something for you, it will be done late and cost more. No disrespect for the shop I am told they do great work :). Hopefully next week they will not say, it will be done in another week next week.
Anyway they said no guarantee it would even be done next week... Ugh I hate waiting...

yeah, the mechanic is cool and all, i just get disappointed and disillusioned when things get delayed.
And i do not want to be an ass and rush people, because I want it done right. But it seems liek this thing will never be done ugh :(

What bugs me, is why can't they just drop it in, and be done with it!!! I know that they might have "regulars" to pass before you, just as when you had to deal with the tub, but come on already....just drop the freaken block in, and get it out of the garage already...really not cool...

Yeah - I agree - surely the hard work has been done - they new it was coming back - they got it out quickly - it shouldn't matter what sort of customer you are - the fact is you are paying for it.

Destin - I'd be pretty sure you dont treat your customers like this. Maybe you need to be a little less of the nice guy - it sounds like you are unlikely to go back to them again.

Cheers Dobster

Yeah i have a hard time not being a nice guy hehe.
I hope this gets done soon though, it is kinda killing me slowly ;)

I just do not want to it to turn into "maybe next week" for a month.
Truck was there at the beginning of july...

But I get it when s*** comes up, I just do not want to string a days work into a month...

Ok I will stop bitching now, and hope for the best.
I have no doubt in them doing it right etc, they come well recommended, just tired of waiting :D

:D

trying to amuse myself until the truck is ready

you all ever watch dust to glory?

dope movie about the baja 1000

great watch :D
:hhmm:
Better than watch the movie is, travelling the Baja California from
Tijuana too San Jose del Cabo , can recomend that ;)
Best beef skewer (filet) and best real caesars salad outside the USA, we had in Santa Anita - 3 miles north - of San Jose ( don`t remember the name of this little restaurant, but remember the excellent food ( we visited in 3 times :D)....
... hope you can get your LandCruiser back till the end of this week ! *

Man i want to do a road trip althe way to lands end and back, camping on the ocean. Maybe i can make it happen for the fall depending on cash flow :D

I am gonna call my mechanic every day until the truck is done, annoying? ... maybe, but I need my truck hehe.

i can almost taste it!!!!!

man, it's ridiculous when you consider how fast you busted through all the restoration work in your garage, how long it's taking them to drop an engine in. sorry, dude. i bet you coulda done this in 3 seconds.

hehe yeah

I had thought about just picking it up and having someone else do it, but I am the type to give peeps a fair shake, I do not like to kick up drama, even though i am whining like a little bitch on the forums ;)

I am confident things will turn out well, the mechanic knows these old rigs in an out, I just think he has more work than time right now hehe.

fingers crossed

mmm crap s*** fxxx hell.

mechanic hurt his back, does not know when he be able to finish it....
and he said he has other customers that were scheduled...
dude nothing goes right for me ha, this is killing me.

Feel bad too, bad backs and back injuries suck...

good news is the motor is in the truck...
He said he is gonna send me a photos in a bit...

bad news is he does not know when he will be able to hook up all the peripherals...
Should i be an ass an pick it up and have someone else finish it?

man.

edit : // Shanes on it to help me get it back together, thanks Shane

Sorry to keep bitching guys haha, Hopefully i will post soon with positive stuff :D

Go finish your truck!:) I have been amazed at what you were able to accomplish with your resto. I didn't know S*** about anything when I did mine, but compared to what you have done, I think putting the engine back in wasn't that bad. Check and double check and you'll be fine. We all know you can do it:wrench::wrench::wrench:.

Thanks guys

I chat with him tomorrow an see if he is up to finishing it.
Hell I can help, we see what he says...

only part i am questioning my ability on is priming the oil pump and securing the distributor properly with proper timing.
Just as they are key bits in the health of the engine, and not bits to overlook or go into lightly.
everything else i have basically done at some point, so should not be bad.

-hook up vacuum lines for 4wd
-hook up the generator an belt
-hook up starter and coil
-run the new plugs wires and caps and plugs
-distributer and vacuum lines, new points, rotor and cap
-mount the manifold with new gaskets
-hook up the oil canister oil in and out
-thermostat
-hoses and radiator and heater lines and add water
-valve cover and new gasket
-exhaust to manifold
-install new speedo cable and emergency brake line
-oil pressure gauge
-throttle choke and gas pedal to carb
-temperature sending unit
-oil and zinc for engine break in
-fuel pump and lines reconnected
-connect the shifting linkage to the tranny
-connect the clutch linkage ( never took thins off but should not be too bad )
-check and charge on battery while all this is going down

I am thinking what? a half day to get it all dialed and ready to crank up?

Not trying to over simplify all this, It would probably take me longer to do it than a seasoned mechanic

looks like the mechanics back is pretty messed up, so I need to pick it up and either do it myself or find another shop...

So what ya guys think?

haul it to my teeny garage and put on everything i can do my self, and tow it some where for the bits i cannot? I just do not want to fxxx up a brand new motor, but i want the fxxxer done. :D

Called a local shop in town that had done some work for me in the past, awesome dudes, and they said it would take maybe 4 hours to get it all perfect. But they will not have time until next week.

What ya guys think?

Try to do it my self or take it to that shop and have em knock it out real quick next week?

man i wasted a lot just towing this thing form place to place ugh.

I'd say leave it where it is and wait it out, or do it yourself. The more "hands" in a project the more likely something will be screwed up or overlooked. my2c No one you pay will be as carefull as you.
