Looking at the frame I take it the bracket on the front crossmember is for the winch. If not remove it. Looks like your spending some real coin on this restore. Might want to think if your going to want to go OEM winch sometime in the future. Then find the OEM fog lights and you have about every option offered from the factory in 1964:rolleyes:

I spent to much on too many cruiser to afford to send to send one out. But I just keep collecting OEM parts:cheers:

:D

I sold a motorbike for the restore, so all in all it is not costing too much coin :D
I think I will roll with the side winder winch to be honest, it is versatile and burly :)
Maybe not 100 percent accurate, but it is a nice piece of hardware set up.
And works perfectly :)

I might be assassinated by the restore peeps, but i am gonna leave it :)
has tons of character :)

I bought the rig for way cheap, so all my dollars are going in to preserve it.
My dad had a rig almost identical to this, so i am excited to take him out in it when it is done for fishing etc ( edit// )

nostalgia for sure :)

Believe me I'm not trying to knock what your spending. I've got seven cruisers older than yours and about as many newer. I don't have the kind of money it would take to restore them all the way you are. Sometimes I wish I had just one. But there is no way I could decide which ones to sell to get down to one. I have some rare non-stock items that I plan on using on my cruisers. So I understand about the winch.

Cheers!

yeah did not mean it that way my friend :D
Misconstrued and such :D

I do covet a nice shop however :)

Soon enough, with skills to follow :D

I do like the winch also....its a nice cool touch...I take it you are going to be cleaning up the winch? repaint/polish restore :)

There is a winch shop down my street :D

I already degreased and cleaned it, but they are going to replace the seals etc :)
They said they have not seen an old winch in such perfect condition in a while :D

Just needs a fresh top seal and some cable oil :D

OK FST door seals!!!!!!!!!!!

So I have been hitting up rubber manufacturers in the portland area about manufacturing the fst soft-door channel seals. This is the skinny:

Custom Die:
1000-1200

After that rubber is next to nothing to produce it.

Now 1200 is a lot of cheddar.
However if we can get like 20 fst owners that want seals for the soft doors together it would not be so bad, and we would cooperatively own the die, possibly enabling us to sell the package product to SOR.

Alternately, maybe SOR or CCOT or some other company is interested in doing this them selves :D

Anyway, just throwing my research data out there :D

1000-1200 seems wayyy good.
Makes me wonder how people get away with charging so much for fj55 seals!?!?

Yeah it is doable for sure, but I am not really in the position to drop that much and try to recoup through sales :D

Maybe next year after tax season :D

Not like I need them right away.
I guess it depends on the demand for the seals, they are discontinued.
Probably if you sold them in volume as kits one could recoup the investment after a while :D

I guess if I could down the road sell the stuff in volume to sor as kits i can recoup it all. But i need to focus on the rig right now :D

Destin, that looks awesome!!!

So when do you get to drop the drive train back in, and bring the frame home?

You happy?
