Hi, all. My 80 is a 94 with 158k currently on it. Changed my plugs last Saturday (October 28, 2006) and I thought they look good. I even compared them with pics from a link given by Cary on https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=117311&highlight=spark+plugs but not too sure about what I see especially that I was losing coolant. I had a leaking radiator, though.

These plugs (NGK BKR5EYA) were installed on June 28, 2005 and were 'subjected' to two long drives amounting to ~ 10K Kms.

Appreciate any inputs. If anything, I'd like to know that I'm not burning coolant. As mentioned somewhere in the forum, it (ie HG) will be a matter of when but would like to 'postpone' that since I still need to save up for that. :)

Let me know if you need more info for a more meaningful diagnosis. Have a nice day.

Best regards,
Arnie

Look great, it doesn't get any better than this!

Look brandy new!

Thanks, gentlemen. It is nice to know that I'm 'safe' as of yet.

They look good. Why did you replace them?

Part of annual maintenance.

Quote Landtank: ...plug #4 looks to be a little tight on the gap

Rick, any reason to be alarmed?

Regards.

Don't worry all the gaps look fine. I don't know what Landtank is sniffing.

If you were burning coolant the plug would look very clean with a slight grey from the steam cleaning.

Just kidding, no way you could tell that from what you posted. They look fine.

Many thanks

Many thanks, folks. I feel relieved that my engine is still very much okay as far as the HG is concerned. Hopefully, it would hold much, much longer.

I really don't get all of this HG thing...

Drive it like a granny and it'll last like a granny.

Simple equation in my book.

:grinpimp:

It's just that this is not the right time for me to have my HG blow. It is said that it will eventually but guess not yet and I'm happy about that.

Guess, Winterpeg forces us to drive a lot like grannies this time of year. :)

It's NEVER a good time for a HG to blow. The inverse would be inane.

"It is said..." Lots of things are said.

The fact remains that there are thousands of these vehicles out there driven by regular people who have no problems with HG failure.

We are just a small cross-section of a much larger population. Our HG failure rates will always appear larger because we have a smaller sample population.

Be vigilant about your care of the vehicle, be smart about how your drive it, and be happy you drive a Cruiser and not a Jeep.

;)

That's a big relief when put that way. Never realized that when looking at the bigger picture.

I don't do anything hard on my cruiser and I'm conscious about maintenance so I should be okay. Now that it's been ascertained (as far as the inputs from rick, wrench, etal are concerned ) that my HG appears okay, then I shouldn't worry that much.

Thanks.
