Hey Guys...just noticed this thread was alive. Thanks Fred.
So I got that ebay alternator, it was cross listed with the early 80's Celica. So far it's working perfectly. It doesn't say "Toyota" or "Denso" but it's great quality, looks dealer "reman" quality to me...actually better. It's new.
I got a little frustrated with O'reilly's, Auto Zone, and even Napa for their vague knowledge of these units. Probably because I was already running with no alternator for 3 days! Kudos to Kirkland brand starting/deep cycle battery. So after finally ordering one from Napa, and seeing the low-buck quality of the reman unit (peeling paint, dented, cheap looking electrics) I rescinded the order. I ended up searching and cross-referencing myself out of necessity. So I ended up with that ebay listing. Just like the FJ60s, Celicas of various years had difference "clock" positions. Definitely bookmarked in my FJ60 "good to know" list.
