Decision time: 2013 vs 2016

Can't go wrong either way though. Another option is a higher mileage 16, I have seen them in the mid to low 50's. Thats 13-15 territory.

I was planning on doing a 2013, but ended up with a 2016. Go with whatever is better for your overall budget, but.........here is my 2016 with BP-51s and the ARB bumper being test fitted. I love the looks of the 2016.

Let us know how you like that bumper when everything is completed. I don't know of anyone that's installed the 16+ version here on the forums, so you may be the first. I'm planning to get mine looking exactly like the one in the PDF: www.arbusa.com/Uploads/PDF/newProductAdvice/2016/200Series_Summit_2016OnPublic.pdf

LOL, you can't lose OP! But I'd do the '16 myself. I can pinch pennies and build at my leisure. I can't add a huge in-dash nav screen & 360 birds eye view too easily though down the road. Strictly a personal preference situation though.
Hate the DVD screens on the back of the seats the 16 and like the grill snd wheels on the 13--but that is just me.

^ If I was looking to move more product that's exactly what I would do....
Post on forums/social media to get the people debating and thinking about what they do/don't have.
Get the perceived competition among product and ourselves rolling and start to ply those wallets. ;)

i.e. I like Pepsi. I like Mt.Dew debate > Pepsi Co still wins.

I like the 2013, I like the 2017 debate > Toyota still wins.

Wouldn't Toyota only win if we talk them into a NEW truck that they buy from Toyota?

These are used. ;)

They always win. On used it's parts, repairs, accessories etc...

If one can increase demand and the used supply dries up- then more pressure is put on the new supply. If one can get the brand into the most hands - that's a win.

Is there more direct and immediate dollars with a new purchase vs used? Yea, absolutely.
But Toyota would rather used Toyotas get sold rather than new/used Jeeps.
If the conversation is Toyota vs. Toyota...they win. And that's the goal. Keep competitors out of the conversation.

Having said that this is an LC forum and the LC is the only product that is a three row, body on frame, off road oriented SUV. But one might say well try the LX, GX, or 4 runner. Still Toyota. ;)

But that's just how effective the product and the marketing is. I can't think of another competitors product to bring into the comparison. Jeep? Eh too small. G-Wagon? Too expensive. Maybe Nissan Armada / QX80 - but the off road legacy of the LC doesn't even make me consider Nissan as a comparison...

No question Nissan has off road legacy. But that legacy hasn't been marketed here in the US. Which is one reason Nissan doesn't come in as a comparison very often with the LC in the US. From a marketing and brand perspective that's ideal for Toyota - no actual competition for an off-road SUV - only perceived competition LC vs LX, GX, 4 runner. 2013 vs 2017.. If a company can influence the market that way - that's a win for them.

Having grown up on Patrols vs LC, Nissan has quite bit of off road legacy ;)

in the exact same situation... pulled the trigger on a 2016 today after looking at a 2013.... the interior is night and day better in the 16 to our eyes. exterior looks more muscular. we would have done the 13 because of price but we keep vehicles a really long time so went with the low miles of the 16, that also had the added benefit of the look we liked.

we don't mod so the money is better spent on miles...

i take that back, the instant that aftermarket covers are available for the rear seat screen delete, I will 'mod' it :D

Nice find on the 16. Not sure about the no mod though. The temptation is strong... :)
Accessories are tempting too. May you be strong and resist.

if you see in my avatar that tan 60? the list is long for that guy: ac, replacing suspension etc ensures nothing fancy will be happening to the 200 anytime soon :D

@steve578 thoughts on that new bumper?

I was considering this ARB or waiting for the TJM. I’m not sure that I like the look of the pre-2016 ARB, but the 2016+ looks awesome. The Warn sits completely hiden and the remote of the Platinum models makes it so you don’t have to reach in the bumper. I probably have 1,000 miles on it since install and it has had zero issues so far. It does have a little bit of movement when hitting bumps, but doesn’t make any noise.

Here are a couple of more pics. Don’t mind the bugs all over the front. I had to temporarily ziptie the license plate to the front because my wife received a fix it ticket for no front plate.
