I've gone down a forum rabbit hole of Navi+, Grom, other solutions from AU and have come up for air with no clear direction. Appreciate any clarity from members here.

Recently upgraded to a 2021 LC200 non-rear ent from a 2013. Loving everything about the upgrade and trying to determine if there is a CarPlay option or if I just let it go. Looking for a 99% worry free solution (works 70% of the time not an option). Fine with installing a new screen or module.

Thank you in advance and if I missed an end all be all thread on this topic feel free to give me side eye.

I have this one from EC Offroad and it works for me:

Thanks for the reply. Any usage idiosyncrasies?

Nothing major. On my original install, I wasn't carefull enough with the LVD cable so eventually the monitor developed a flicker, but EC sent me a new cable and that fixed it. The key there is to install that cable looped back under the grill in the middle of the dash and make sure it doesn't get crimped or crammed in there when you put everything back together.

The only other issue (very minor annoyance) is that when I logged in to Google Play Store to download some apps, I did so with dual authentication turned on. And for some reason that now forces me to hit an unlock button upon startup, to get to the Carplay screen. I asked EC about this, they confirmed that's what caused it and they said it's not reversible. Not sure I buy that, I am sure that a factory reset would solve it, but I don't want to take the risk and that reset also requires a code I wasn't provided.

The last one is not a dealbreaker, especially if you're careful about how you log into the Google Play Store, it won't happen to you. Other than these two solvable issues, it's been solid.

I’m going thru the same issue with my 2016 VX. Polaris make a great unit but it’s not compatible with VX or Sahara but they’re testing it for those models shortly ( they told me that at Brisbane 4x4 show today) . Avoid the eBay specials I tried 2 and they were shockingly frustrating and riddled with glitches. I’ve read the same abiut EC offroads ones too. I would’ve thought someone would’ve done a quality unit by now!

Really happy with the Beat Sonic I installed in my 18. Works great, install was easy, fabulous support from them. I mean, you get an email back from them in minutes, pretty much no matter the day....

Here's a write-up on the Beat-Sonic unit.

Tried the Grom in my 2018. Didn’t care for its integration with the stock electronics. Changed to the Road Top 8” screen mounted on the dash using a Gamiviti plate. I’m loving that solution. I was *this* close to just installing an iPad mini with 5G into that spot.

Can you post a photo of this setup?

Ive been wondering about these…
Is this also using aux for audio?
Nope, not aux. The phone connects to the RoadTop unit via WiFi and Blutooth (the same as for any wireless CarPlay setup). And the RoadTop unit connects to the car via the car’s blutooth. Audio quality is good enough for my purposes.

Only two issues as far as I’ve found. First, sometimes you have to remind the phone to connect. It’s just a few taps in settings and also occurs in my wife’s audi, so I think that’s just part of the CarPlay experience. Second, the integrated microphone and speaker in the RoadTop unit isn’t that great, so for making calls I have the phone paired to the car in a secondary capacity. There’s a thread about how to do it on here.

Thanks! Thats exactly what im looking for!
I have some back and forth on the carplay threads with me and the manufacturers and their audio routing solution is not to my standards.
I would much rather do this (cleanly) somehow and retain digital path to my amp.

Cheers.

I've ordered the unit, is it wireless for car play?

I have seen some videos on YouTube that state Toyota can perform a software update on the radio which will unlock Apple CarPlay. Is this true for a 2021 Land Cruiser 200 series?

Ok. Do you know why by chance? I saw a video where they did this on a 2018 Toyota Camry. I would think that the software is more recent on a 2021 Land Cruiser and should be able to do it on that vehicle as well.
I can’t say why other than the 21 software is probably identical to 2016 which was the last significant model range update.

I can say this.. CarPlay is by far the most-requested mod to this entire series of vehicles in the US. If it were a simple update away there is no way we wouldn’t know about it.
