I can’t say why other than the 21 software is probably identical to 2016 which was the last significant model range update.

I can say this.. CarPlay is by far the most-requested mod to this entire series of vehicles in the US. If it were a simple update away there is no way we wouldn’t know about it.
You are correct. Unfortunately, based on my research the only way to get it in the vehicle is to buy something from Hamilton or other similar vendors, dismantle the dash and install it. Heard good things about it but pretty invasive.

It looks invasive but it’s honestly not that bad. The first time I pulled apart my Cruiser dash to replace the fiber cable on the ECoffroad CarPlay module I was a little intimidated but following a video made it straightforward. Now that I’ve done it a few times for a few other things I could get in there in a couple minutes. I just ordered the Hamilton unit for the LX, it looks a little more involved but the payoff is more than worth it in the end.

I installed a custom car stereo systems Android auto play in my 2020 LC 200 HE several months ago. Excellent installation manual with prompt replies from their customer service department when I had questions regarding the installation. The only Gremlin in the setup is using the "hey Google!" voice command. Everything else works as advertised. No issues to date.

Yes, I could see that - honestly I think I could easily do it based on the video they provided - I would just take my time to ensure I didn't mess anything up.

If you have a cool area to do it inside then it’s definitely not a bad job. Taking all those panels off gives you the chance to really clean and treat leather as well.

I have this one from EC Offroad and it works for me:
Will this one work for Apple OS? TIA.
