Where is the sweet spot for de-pinning the idle solenoid plug. I would like to do this in order to route it through the grommet on the fire wall.

Push the terminal into the plug, use a fine tip pin (if you don’t have good tools, a Bobby pin with the tip cut off is perfect) to push in and slightly down to move downward under the terminal housing. Pull on housing.

Btw that plug isn’t the idle solenoid that’s the coolant temp

Thanks for the reply. Now I feel really silly. I've been working on the 40 late nights and to boot I had it labeled with the Brother P touch. Since I am running the Dakota Digital VHX, I not even sure if I'm going to send it through the fire wall since the DD comes with its own sensor.

By the way, the thin tool would go in from the front of the plug opposed to where the wire enters. Looking at the pic, the pin goes into the bottom?

Thanks
Dave

My favorite tool for this task is a Starrett watchmaker screwdriver I got from my dad when he didn't need it any more.

The semilocal wrecking yard charges a buck to get in - but anything you can fit in your pockets is free. A razor knife and a pair of side cutters will harvest a lot of stuff quick. Cut off both plugs with like 4" tail - you can practice on them and doing switches. Seat belt is good stuff when its free.

For those who are struggling with an old crusty petrified double-ports Choke Cable / Sub-Harness Grommet behind the Cylinder Head ..

My 90480-30003 Molded out very very nice and is up to the Period Correct Reproduction Part’s goodness good level ….

The ICS , both gauge sender and thermo sender wires now can exit through one of the spouts. and your CHOKE cable the other just as Mr T intended …
