Greetings, I am newbie here since I just bought a uzj100. I have a '96 lx450 with slee light harness and have great light but the new 100 is dimmer and kind of yellow. I ordered the John Deere HIR $26. each. THANKS Cary. The DTL on the 2001 prohibits HIR's there. BUT, I asked Daniel Stern about the HIR for high beams on my 2001 uzj100. His answer Quote - If you're in a location where DRLs are not required (such as the USA), then the simple solution is to turn them off. If you do have to have DRLs, they can easily and inexpensively be reworked to the newer turn signal DRL system used on the current 4Runner amongst others. close quote
I haven't seen any threads on this -- what are you guys doing to address this issue? I thought about wiring the DTL to the fog lights and using the stalk position that controls fogs to hook up the 9006 hi/low beam and the 9005 high beam for max output. This would mean that the high beam stalk position would be high beam on 9006hi/low light. I got so much light just from slee's wiring upgrade I have thought to reproduce that in the 100 to see the results but Cary or someone said there is little/no voltage drop in the 100!? Well, you can see I need some straight talk from the group. Oh, how would you rewire DTL to turn signals? Thanks, SI Steve, Shelter Island NY (east end of Long Island.)
