I'm sure that we can find a way to remove the muffler for you tomorrow!

I have the weekend to myself so I'm going to pull off that beat up fender and bend it back into shape. Figure I'll put in my new antenna while I'm in there.

:)

Does anyone have pictures showing the "manual" locking and unlocking of the elockers? I know there is a way to slide something manually behind that cover to engage and unlock.

Reason I ask is that I want to make sure my front locker (in particular) is fully unlocked. I had been doing the "engage switch, then drive in circles in a dirt lot" trick to no avail but ever since then, I feel like I'm getting a clicking from the front that is louder and different then what I always assumed was a clicky birf.

It probably IS just a clicky birf, but I want to be sure my front locker isn't engaged just slightly and now eating itself on the street. Peace of mind and all that jazz.

(backstory, my elocker actuators are fubar)

In Ken's post #215 you will see the rack teeth hanging down in that hole. Pull the actuator and slde that rack toward the tire on that side.

But an easier way to confirm is to jack the PS tire off the ground, place the t-case in Neutral and spin the tire. Even with a bad birf it should be silent.

Fixed. Turned out the ripped sheetmetal was a patch panel. I Dr. Frankenstein'd it all back together.

Very creative!

:meh:
Those cats hang low.

Pulled both actuator motors off to have a look around.

Rear: at least one broken wire, and the wound up spring/magnet thingy is in unwound (looks very different then the front one). I resealed it with some silicone when I put it back on and it seems to have cured the oil leak that was coming from there.

Front: confirmed it wasn't "partially locked" and my clicking is just the birf. Motor needs some cleaning up but everything else seems to be in good shape. I'm optimistic.

Put it all back together as it's my only ride and I wanted to catch a movie this afternoon but I'm feeling better about pulling things apart and trying to rehab. That broken rear wire is a worry though, it's cut right near the plug.

Read the directions?!

:) Yeah, I've got them and they aren't deep by any stretch, but it looks like I will be able to figure it out. Need to hit up the parts store and get a boot (as suggested in other threads) to keep things in clean grease.

ave do you take the actuator completely off? if so what are you doing with them i need a rear actuator housing and maybe some of the parts

I'm going to hang onto the parts until I'm sure I have the cable working 100% then they are yours.

Decided not to start this yesterday as I NEED to drive it on Monday adn I know how long it takes me to do this stuff, but I'll start into it this week.

A long overdue update.

As winter closes in I must say I have been really pleased with this truck. It wheels GREAT, and also manages to pull road-driving duty without complaint. I can't imagine wheeling anything else now.

It also accomplished the goal of getting me out wheeling more... I think I've been out more times this year then the past 2 years combined. The whole family has been out a few times now as well and my son is slowly getting used to it and enjoying more. Sara drove a long section of the VT run even so I've got her on board as well.

Now it's time to catch up on some long overdue updates and maintenance.

• Both front birfs are clicking so a full axle job is in order.

• Get the rear cable locker cable mounted correctly and working smoothly.

• Get the front elocker working correctly.

• Full coolant flush and PHH replacement.

• Replace the gas tank, skid & straps as the current ones are mangled and dented and not factory secure causing the occasional rub on the drive shaft.

• New muffler and rehang the exhaust. Probably new O2 sensors as well.

• New stereo and mount CB.

• Get the ebrake working right. Probably need to replace a few parts in there.

• IPOR skid plate? Maybe sliders?

THankfully we now have my snowbird in-laws Accord to use as a second car while they are in Florida for the winter so I can take my time getting the Cruiser into top notch shape.

I'm looking at buying a new set of tires for my DD 60 and the TRXUS MT is on my list. I want something that performs well in snow, on the highway with some decent performance offroad. After having the TRXUS for a while, how well do you like them?

So much for that, truck is dead as a doornail, couldn't even jump it with the V8 this morning.

Guess it's last minute Christmas Shopping with the family on our way down to the party later.
