Hi guys, I have been having an intermittent problem with my dash light in my 1988 hj61 (the green one that lights up the temp /oil pressure / volt / and fuel gauges) not working. The tacho and speedo lights are fine, as are the high beam and park brake lights..... For the first couple of times that I noticed it wasn't working it came back on after a few minutes (once due to severe corrugations, and the other time by me tapping the dash). The last time however was on the 16hour drive back from Exmouth where it didnt come back on at all, and I had to check the vitals with a torch...
I am assuming it is a loose connection somewhere, but have had my hand up behind the dash wiggling things with no luck... Is there anywhere in particular I should look? Can I get to where I need to without pulling the whole dash out?? Any pics would be great too!!
Thanks heaps
Drew

Although I'm unfamiliar with the wiring on a 61, all 60 series cruisers have a lot in common.

All the dash indicator lights share a common grounding location. This is likely a small plastic covered grounding bus behind the dash, tucked in behind some other wires. To find it, the gauge assembly has to be pulled out, but the entire dash does not need to be removed.

Thanks mate. If they share a common ground and 2 out of the 3 work would this still be a possible cause?
Is it possible to replace the globes and / or wiring to the globe (easily)? I thought I saw something on Mud about it a while back which made the globes shine a lot brighter, but can't find it...
