Sorry to hear the news, Dan. Get anything and everything that is wet out ASAP. Put some blowers/drying fans in to get it dried good and fast. Otherwise, there will be more than just physical damage to fix and insurance companies do not like to pay for mold remediation.

Call me if you have any questions regarding any storm claim questions or mold-related questions. Have lots of experience with clients in the same situation after our 3 hurricanes.

Good luck, and look deeper than what the adjuster says is needed. They are not your friend with claims like yours arise.

One last thing, photo-document and video everything, even as work progresses, including your yard cleanup. Get a notebook and start a log of everything that you do and any costs incurred. Go heavy on the photos and the video.

Hey everyone

I have internet again and have been a little busy.

As everyone before has said, I got hit with a glancing blow of an EF-1 tornado.

Everyone is fine. Pics are at the end.

Cruiser content: I will be cutting the roof off of the Cado, adding a cage, and having a custom marine canvas top made with a large tornado embroidered on the roof.

Thanks for the advice everyone re: cleanup. I am taking a new set of pics with the clean up so far. I hear we may be classified as a fed disaster area today, so I need to document in order to recoup money and time spent.

I have a contractor coming out today to start the work. He is State Farm approved and knows what to fix immediately vs. wait for adjuster (water, etc). Good guy, good ol boy, so I know things will be straight. I checked him out and he was actually sent to my good friend's house by Nationwide.

Dang Dan. Captn is spot on about overkill on photos and documentation.
I'd also suggest you get your own estimates from contractors. It wouldn't hurt to get
an estimate of what a contractor wants for the cleanup you are doing yourself.
They often don't re-imburse for "self help". Just because you do it yourself doesn't mean
you shouldn't get fair compensation for your labor. Estimate would establish what that value
would be.
Glad you and your's are injury free. That had to be scary.

Been at a meeting at the airport early this week but was driving home Tues night as the sirens started going off in Alpharetta. Was quite a ride. Glad you all are OK!

Most of the ATL FJCs were at Dan's last night. We got his yard mostly in order. The only thing left was the major tree trunks that broke off the top and the remainder of those trees. I think Dan's going to find a contractor that actually wants the wood (for no fee) to take care of those.
Before Heather showed up...there were 4 of us, plus a GA Cruiser in his Taco.

Three chainsaws going and we got all the limbs trimmed and moved into piles. With all the folks that showed up, it hardly seemed like that much work. I felt bad that I hardly did anything but move a few piles of limbs. Dan had much of the cutting done by the time we got there. Dave & Sylvain & Eric & Trevor all got there before me.

Dan and his dad got a temporary fence put up to keep the beagles in the yard.

A couple shots of the trees that got mangled. Basically the top half of these twisted right off, went up, then landed straight down in the yard and fell towards the back of the property. The trees that hit the house did the same maneuver, but the house was in the trajectory path.

Where are the pics of the CADO?????

I took pics of the cado but since Dan didn't in his post, I thought perhaps there was a reason (insurance or otherwise). So I didn't.

But since Juice stole some already, here are mine...note that only the right side C & D pillars actually crushed. The driver side is almost fine. The sliding windows still work and did not crack.

There is a pretty good chance the front end of the truck came off the ground based on how the tree landed on the truck (almost behind the rear axle). Dan has an oil leak under the engine compartment that he didn't have before and has not had a moment to check it out.
