Just spent a couple weeks of winching and group I was with modified there D rings and I found it very nice so I decided to do the same. Just welding on a lever makes hook up and removal much easier when dealing with sand and mud.

While I was doing some D-ring searching I came across how to tie and make your own soft shackles. Hopefully soon I can dump my metal D-rings and I will be all light weight synthetic when it comes to winching and hook ups.

While doing some research on getting the correct material to make my own soft shackles I came across a young company that offered them to me with a nice price so I ordered some to test in the hopes they are all that and I will start carrying them after the first of the year.

I like the idea of the little lever, I generally use a screw driver since a fixed lever like that would contact my bumper. Still haven't gone over to the soft shackle crowd, but I will be keeping an eye on those to see what you come up with.

Good point as I can now see the possible issue. Interesting with the 6+ vehicles I was with the lever was never an issue.:hmm: Now I need to check to see if I can attach the new levered D-rings to my recovery point on my Land Cruisers:eek: Soft shackles are looking better by the minute.

I'm confident it at least won't work on a Slee shortbus. Not sure if my labs rear would either.

Thank @half k cruiser for making me take another look and realizing my mistake.

Yes they will fit a shortbus without modification

No they will not work on a 4x4 labs without modification

No they would not fit the tie down points on the LX470 without modification

Now they fit everything

Soft shackles on the way to put an end to this. Im a little concerned about some recovery points being hard or sharp on soft shackles so I made sure I ordered ones with an additional protective sleeve.

Nice!....Just never use soft shackles on sharp surfaces even with protective sleeve...this is where steel D rings come in handy ;)
