Got the drain sorta figured.

PXL_20230618_185734713.jpg

Not 100% happy with it, I've kinda had the fecal touch all weekend, so I'll probably change it.

Something fairly horrific happened last week. Someone who WAS good friend of ours is now in prison.

It's been ongoing for 2 years since his initial arrest, but Wednesday was the final day where he's taken away in handcuffs to prison.

Makes me sick to my stomach he was someone close enough to be at our wedding. Embarrassed to say a lot of you have met him.

Anyways. Not an easy thing to get your head around. Kinda off my game.

Sh!t happens… I can understand how it would be upsetting.

on the line I’d be inclined to loose the upper rubber connection by the hot manifold.

Little bit. Taints every memory involving the creep.

With the drain, It's not actually that close to the manifold, and I have some high temp hose, so between that and some shielding, it'd be ok.

It's the hose clamp farm I'll object to as much as anything, so theres a good chance I will.

Not sure if the yellow pyro wire coiled up to make a magnetic field would cause any resistance problems??? Good dam science.
Depends if it's an ac or DC signal.

Dc signals are not really affected by coiling wires which basically creates an inductor. They're only affected in that they will take a slightly (like 100 ths of a second longer)

Ac signals are affected, impedance acts like a resistor for ac, meaning they will read lower.

Oh look at you knowing what you're talking about 🤣

6 years of post secondary and 12 years of industry experience to be able to tell someone on a random forum what happens when you coil a wire... Win? :hillbilly:
Damn boy… now you’re making me feel old.

It must be close to 14 years ago now that you mounted that Aqualu tub on Andy in my driveway. Absolutely crazy to think about. 🤷‍♂️

It's possible you ARE old.

Seems to be contagious.

The first time I put a turbo on a 3b was 20 years ago.

This pic is from 2008, but I'm pretty sure I actually put the turbo on in 2003, although I can't find a picture closer to the date.

One in 2002 where there's no turbo, and one in 2005 where there is. Hoping to fit a proper airbox in this time and not that s***ty K&N cone thing.

Don't think I had a cellphone then, had to borrow swmbos digital camera and load pictures on the computer like a ****in caveman

No plans to intercool this one, but who knows.

I did a little monkeying with the oil drain, kindof a pain in the ass to line up, glad I'm doing this on a spare engine and not trying to do it in the truck.

Funny how the camera makes booger welds look more like booger welds.

Would be nice to find something like this, it'd make life easier, but I'm guessing the cummins turbo has a bigger drain flange, although I didn't really look for measurements.

Amazon product ASIN B09CMM9SDG

That's pretty much the last thing I can do without taking the 40 apart, weather is kinda s***ty for a topless truck, I don't have to be back at work till friday, and Mel is away for a couple days so may as well see if that exhaust manifold will come off....

Ok. This was kinda comical.

I've been dreading removing the manifold because you know how fun that can be.

Well, the bolts were all finger tight 🤣

Apparently that exhaust leak I could hear that I was absolutely certain was a joint under the passenger seat was the manifold.

PXL_20230619_175934342.jpg

So now this officially a repair. Clearly had to happen

I love turbos!

That's it for today. Manifold is on, and side covers swapped. Turbo is pinned but not tightened up yet.

Usual wasted time looking for fittings and making gaskets.

I'll have to head out tomorrow morning for a couple little things, but I could see a test burn happening tomorrow night. (Watch it piss rain 🤣)

Certainly the day after barring some cluster **** I'm forgetting.

That's not so bad; it means you might be able to break the tires loose and feel like you have more power than you actually do!

Nice work though; great seeing it all come together.

Break the tires loose? It's still a 3b, I think I'd need snow not rain 🤣

We'll see how tomorrow goes. Sometimes the stupid s*** that should take 5 minutes eats your day.

Rerouting heater hoses is gonna be a pain in the snapper...

Before I added an extra 2500 pounds of steel to my bj60, I used to be able to spin the wheels with the locked rear end on drive pavement and do brake stands. lol I was in late twenties of course. Some real ****ing science going on back then. lmao.

Back in '98 my Fj40 would spin through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.... even after building the rear tub out of a 4'x8' sheet of 1/8" steel. :grinpimp:

Now older and wiser, the new engine crawls along like a champ at 600 rpm, but is far more refined and well mannered.

Well, burnouts in the 7/11 parking lot are totally why I'm doing this. Just need to install the tape deck with Night Ranger stuck in it, and I'm all set, aside from the mullet needing some work.

I totally struck out on finding any stainless flex, so ****it. I'll grab a piece of that Walker crap just to get it together. I'm sure it'll last weeks. 😏

Also going to steal the boost gauge out of the 60. It maxes at 15 psi, so kinda sucks in there anyway. I sold the Stewart Warner gauges yesterday. THAT boost gauge went to 60psi....a bit much for a 3b

Put tiny home in back, tint, awning, sell for $100k.

Well I really tried not to point out the obvious crap welds but since you did. You are SOooo good at everything else you do, why the lack of welding skills? Must be your welder right?

I run Westach gauges cause they look like they fit. No LED crap, round analog. Good price,
hand made when you order.
