And Finished with paint!

As I came in to the shop today, I discovered a few issues. The hood fish eyed (little inclusions that the paint pulls away from) and the right quarter panels has popped bubbles that look like water got in with the paint. I was running two air/water filters and one right on the gun. I remember poping the air line off the gun by that panel, to go fill up the cup with more paint. I think it might have sprayed some moisture onto the panel. Regardless its there and is how it will be for CM! There is a joke in the auto body world where a paint job is referred to a 10 footer or worse. The worse the job bigger the #! This is by no means any hot road show job, I will probably stuff a fender anyway next week or worse. The truck is build for off road so trail rash is expected at some point!

Next up putting it all back together! Build some bumpers, bolt on some.... well thats another thread.

Mark,
Looks great, no problem finding it in a parking lot! :D It'll be great seeing pics of it wheeling in Moab

Sa-weat!!! Alls I can say is... GO VOLS!

Be sure to crank up some Rocky Top while wheeling that bad boy :D.

Very nice looking. It reminds me of the color Vitamin C orange that Chysler Motor Corp put on its 60's and 70's muscles cars. Now all we need is a couple in Sublime Green, (which would be my pick), Plum Crazy Purple, Lemon Twist Yellow and..... We can forget about Pink Panther Pink.

Hemi Orange, I think. Panther Pink was the other one.

LOL!

Totally cool Mark!!

Looking forward to seeing it completed. Have fun at Moab...

It's kinda funny, I was looking at it last night and it looks exactly like Vitamin C from CMC. (IIRC: Hemi orange was a darker color.)

T-minus 2.5 days to departure for Moab.

The hood had the paint issues on it, what to do. Both LT and Brian aka: Gyute had previously suggested doing the black out on the raised portion of the hood. Well $74 more of automotive paint in ultra flat black and some masking later, the center of the hood is done. Man talk about OSU Beavers colors now!

The night before Chad did a ton of work putting all the seals, lights and trim back on the truck. I felt bad he worked in the shop late Monday night by himself as I had family I needed to take care of that night. Chad assured me I could return the favor on some part of his 97! As of last night I think 100% of all the reinstall for those parts is completed. Front axel is buttoned up, brakes are bled, (new lines and 100 series pads). I just need to finish cutting the right fender well and the whole front clip can go on. I should get this done this afternoon.

Tough decisions on bumpers.

I have a proto-type front I started three years ago! I am going to do some finishing touches to it and let Eric V. run it at Moab this year. This is a similar design to what Eric built years ago for his 91. I wanted to build two but don’t have the time. Fortunately if you look in the previous photos you may recognize that massive box on top of my material rack, I have a ARB winch bumper in stock. That will go on for the event. This will also allow me to toss on a winch. (This will help me yank LT out when he needs it)

Rear bumper. Well the CAD drawings are almost all there, but that’s it. Spare will ride strapped down in the back. (Yes CM tech inspectors the orange thing will have a full size spare!) I will build some small side guards out of tubing to protect the quarter panels and just run them off the back of the standard frame. This will have to evolve as I build it in regards to time! Less than 72 hrs this truck has to be chained to the trailer.

Mark, you could get Christo to bring you one of these:

Or build something similar!

Truck is looking good. That black stripe on the hood is just crying out for a giant orange metal tech logo. :grinpimp:

Cool color. I know how you feel putting it together. Felt the same way when I has the Schoolbus painted. Changes the character of the truck completely. Can't wait to see it in CM. At least you can't miss it.
