Hey everyone,

Just came across these and am not sure how they'd look on a 96 forest green cruiser.

I haven't seen them on an FJ before, but if the quality is good, it may update the frontend and give it a more modern look like the newer FJ 90's.

I do think that the angel eyes are a bit much and not very authentic looking for an 80-series, but I am just looking for suggestions.

Any comments??

Maybe for a Honda Civic. For a LC, only if you add low profile tires, rims with spinners, a huge wing and this steering wheel .

This is just my opinion :grinpimp:

That was my impression as well, spinners and wings exactly.. not to mention fake nos-tanks right!

I like the OEM look for the cruiser, I just feel that the headlight design is restrictive and newer "crystal" headlights would project more light.

I am thinking about just adding a bull-bar with piaa fog lights instead. The headlights we have may be old-school, but I just remembered that I am still running the original bulbs!! Thats over ten years of abuse. I doubt I will change them. Plus we have a solid glass casing that I doubt any cheap after market stuff would compare to.

Thx

Cheap plastic, meh, wont last near as long as the glass faced OEM headlights. will yellow and look like a POS Ford in 5 years.

Too fast and too furious.

nice concensus!

didn't think much of them to begin with. I will probably go with some bright auxillary lights and either mount them onto the bumper or get one of those bull-bars i mentioned earlier.

thanks

hey raven, those LTX's are awesome. I am on my second set at about 110K, I do feel that some more meat on the tires would be good as i only have 30% left.

how do you prolong tread life so much?

It really makes me laugh, when I see lifted big tough proud American trucks cruising down the freeway and then in the rear you see that they installed cheap "Made in Taiwan" rear lenses.

Are they OK on "Built in Japan" trucks?

Or does that make you giggle?? :D

well i don't think they look too blingy. They just look like modern lenses to me. I like the one piece look. YOu don't have to hook up the angel eye effect if you don't want to.

You could get those and put in HID bulb/ballast kit and have some great light.

Even if they aren't the greatest, it's not that expensive to try. I would do it but no LX450 version...

Good points and the same reasons I installed them on my vehicle. I thought the LED's on the bottom would be too much but doesn't look bad at all. Very cool looking when driving with just the parking lights on as the halo's give it a more bad ass beemer look but tougher looking.:D

I'm sure all the new LC(100 series already) will be updated with the modern lights anyhow and this helps keep the 80 series up to date since the body style of the 80 still has it's unique look(much better than the 100's IMO) but for the older models, then this might be too much for them even though I think these would look cool on them.

Overall, this was one of the better facelifts for my vehicle. Brought it into the 21st century especially since we tend to hold onto these vehicles much longer than others. Plus, you should see all the "oohs" I get when I click the alarm!:grinpimp:

all I do is rotate them, my 80 came with these smaller than stock tires, still have about 3/8" tread left, I am of two minds about the uber long tread life, I want to go to 305/70 and need to use these up to get there, on the other hand I really cannot afford tires right now.

If you want more light output, put in the HIRs for $10 a piece. Search john deere HIR and my username for the thread.

If I were going to do a headlight assembly swap, the only thing I would consider is the Australian set-up with traditional rectangular lights; it would be different, and a burned/broken light is a quick, cheap, easy fix. Plus I think it looks

96,

It's your rig, and unless you are an approval junkie, do what you like with your rig.

Personally, I wouldn't put them on mine, but you may not want to have pumkin orange under your hood, either.

That pumpkin look is cool!

I'll post pics later on on the headlamps since I'm off tomorrow for MLK Day.

Glad you like it. I'll like it a lot better when the damn thing is running again!

Credit to ElMariachi for the color. His pumpkin 40 inspired it. I think it's the same one Woody uses as an alternating pic on the front page of this site. The one that has the "land cruiser" tag reflected in the fender finish.

The '98-'02 100's have glass headlamps and the '03+ 100's have plastic/acrylic headlamps. It's the early glass ones that always chip and get cracks in them (including mine). Cheap plastic ones like on your Ford, no doubt will fade in short time but a quality plastic headlamps have much better UV resistance. These eBay headlamps will also probably fade/cloud after a few years.

However, one advantage of these eBay lights is the plastic lenses is non-fluted and optimal if you wanted to do an HID retrofit. The stock 80 headlamps are fluted, they have those lines in the glass that cause the light to refract and would cause glare.

Its the flutedness of the stockers that bugged me. But I am figuring that if it aint broken why fix it, right??

So I will prolly keep them until something goes wrong. I don't like those classic quad headlight design, it takes away from the look of the 80 and makes it look much older.

I really wouldn't trust those other products unless I saw the fit and finish. But the chances of them not holding up to the fit and finish of the OEM stuff is very high. Mine are ten years old and still look brand new.

NvrEnuf, I gotta see those pics!! Can't wait. I do appreciate someone who wants to be different. Whether it be pumkin colored accessories under the hood or aftermarket headlights, you gotta luv it!
