Ok here is my progress.
Took some 3mm LED's and shaved the dome off of them to diffuse them more.
Painted the reflector silver
Testing some LED's (the one at the top is a standard LED, I sanded the top down on the bottom red one, you can see the difference between the two in regards to their dispersion patterns. (Also stuck a white in for testing, it was a 5mm so it won't work, waiting for the 3mm whites). Also the camera really picks up the hot spots but in real life you can't see any hot spots on the bottom pane.
More testing
I got some clear vellum paper from a crafts store to make the translucent windows. I layered two sheets into each box.

Not all Land Rovers are useless!
Red is good for night vision gauges, check out some of the BMW's and VAG models, FWIW you can use tri colour LEDS, sort a changeover switch and choose the colour to suit your mood.

Version 2.0 may be coming soon. This will add more functionality and will show more indicators. I've got several friends that are extremely capable of coding an Arduino board, so the thought is to integrate an OLED display on the dash that takes the place of several gauges but offers more usability. It can display fault codes, status, levels etc.
Just a baby of a thought now but that's how my first cluster set up started....

Great job! What are overall dimensions of original gauge cluster if you know? Great fit.

Thanks, I don't have dimensions of the original cluster, everything was hand made. WOuld be easy to buy a second hand one and have it laser scanned by someone though.

No I havent. I need to push this project to the finish line, not sure I'll do the multi gauge display. It'd be a lot of work. But if I get a hair up my ass who knows.

Been awesome. Haven’t had a single issue in fact I’ve been able to identify problems before they become an actual issue. Like fan clutch failure, alternator failure etc. not sure I’ll go full 2.0 with the oled display, but I do need to push it to the finish from the 90% it’s sitting at.
