How is your fuel economy working out with the new T case gears?

No real change. Still getting an average of 17-18 with normal driving. I try to keep it at 65 for better mileage but I constantly find my self going over 70. It just wants to go.

Hmm, I like my HDJ80, but sometimes I wonder...when you see a clean conversion like this, a little more displacement would be kinda nice.

That's kind of a bummer. I'm thinking about going 37's and possibly the 3.73's if I go 6bt.

Thought pulling the vacuum pump would be easy. What a bear it was. I thought I could pull it from the bottom but no go on that. I got it wedged in a spot for about 30 minutes. Finally decided to pull intake horn, boost hose, and throttle cable out of the way and pull it through the top. The fxxxer is finally out in one piece. Now onto cleaning and new seals and gaskets.

17-18 is a bummer? I think it's pretty good for a heavy shoe box on wheels!

All back together. When putting the brake booster line back on I noticed a split in the hose right at the check valve. Maybe it was there maybe i ripped it when I was man handling the pump screaming bad things while square pegging this thing into the round hole to get it back in place. Anyway this stupid ripped piece is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Instead of having a proper nipple for the hose it downsizes it with this weird adapter with a cone shaped hose piece. Maybe this is normal but I think it's just stupid. Now I need find an OEM replacement or use hose adapters.

On a brighter note I officially started looking for a BJ40 to add to the stable. Because I can't afford anything here in North America I am looking in Costa Rica where there is a plethora of them at good prices. My friend from there is helping me find one. I had him call for info on one today. It was the first one I determined was worthy of a call and his time. If the planets align perfectly this fall I fly down there and drive one back. Southwest Airlines starts flying there in October. $150-$200 for a one way ticket. If I can't drive it I will ship it.

I wonder how that might fit. As the conversion kit was $750.

How big is the trans and what TC would you use?

It's a manual box. For their diesel.

I'm looking all this up now. But I think the split case would work.

What's your diff gear ratio. Might be worth it if 4.11, not so much if 3.7

Typically that extra gear in a truck trans is designed for towing, usually splitting the 1-2 or 2-3 ratios on a 5 speed. I would be surprised if it does anything to increase your overdrive ratio...which is where you would need it with taller gears in your diffs.
