Looks like you had a great trip love the photos mate

Looks like it was a good trip, maybe next year.

Fraser is great , there's so much to see and the interior is completely different to the coast. The conservation efforts mean the tracks are usually in good condition and the whole island is accessible. Downside is they've made a lot of it accessible to vehicles that shouldn't really be there, like Honda CRV's, that tend to sink in some of the sand if its hot and churned up.

Thanks for sharing the fun with us!

I've even downloaded a couple of your great pics.

It's not often you see so many 40-series together.

I guess Facebook must have more uses that just enabling me to talk to my daughter. (I can reach her on Facebook when nothing else works, and at present that is my only use for Facebook.)

edit later: Now I've downloaded more than just a couple..... (I hadn't even seen your last 3 post when I typed the first bit!)

Anytime Tom. Facey is good for group stuff. Lots of tech. Some of the guys know of 'Mud. Others are still ignorant of it unfortunately!

I met a bloke at Fraser who runs under the handle Bambi Girl. Pete. Great bloke and owns an engineering shop. We got talking about his 40 and my '45 and he came up with a solution that should negate the cutting of driveshafts and belting of firewalls ;)

looks like you had a pearler of a trip. hey, can you tell me how the guy with the yellow troopy mounted his high-lift jack? super cool setup that i reckon i'll do with my thing.

I can't - but I can take a pretty educated guess cause I had a zoom in on that pic. In line with the bottom mirror arm there's an attachment to one of the holes in the jack stud. I'd say he's made a bracket up with a bit of threaded rod and an assortment of nuts and washers and maybe a dab of weld here and there and mounted it off a windscreen hinge bolt or two. I know they sell kits for them. I'd also recommending putting the base of the jack in a bit of a foot with four edges on it so she sits in snugly and doesn't scratch ya $20k respray.

And here's the whole fleet except two: Bambi Girl's mint 1982 FJ40 LX w/everything and Bart's grey HJ45 with the bonnet scoop. Not sure what happened to him but he didn't turn up! Also in this pic are some guys that camped elsewhere or turned up late: the beige FJ40 that's sixth from the left is Ben Keen's and has an Aussie 308 cui Holden V8, H55, discs, 40 power steer and a massive track thanks to 33 x 12.5's on some crazy -ve offset. The red 1984 [?] FJ45 next to him sports a 350, TH400, discs, steer and an extra big rad that doesn't quite work yet. Sounds balls-out tough though. The second last truck is a 1983 BJ40 w/3B, discs, steer, H41 and Thomas PTO. Great little truck. Anyway, that's it! Enjoy the pics!

Awesome photos

Great pics Lt Miller LOL
Hahaha yeah yeah..

In a non-cruiser related post we may have delayed V8 engine installation by shooting a film: Pacific Theater

Luckily for us @landcrusher909 aka Rob T introduced us to @devildoglt aka 'The Real Deal' and our director Mike managed to gain a few choice tips on making a war/sci-fi fiction feature involving the Marines Corps. Who the hell else would they send?? Monday involved an amphibious assault on Cabarita Beach, NSW - @sneaky and @84TROOPY were there to take down some mechanised alien drones. Later on I donned a set of MARPAT and an M4 but unfortunately I didn't make it through. Lazed by one of those mechanical suckers I'm afraid. The dailies look AMAZING. To be honest, I didn't know we had a film this good in us. Now all we gotta do is make sure we do justice to The Corps - gonna have a few keen eyes watching us..

Right then, back to the 45. Today I may have picked up this little gem..

Should make spacing the V-8 away from the firewall a little easier. It adds I think 6" to the input shaft. Just need to space the box from the bell housing the same distance and I'm in business.

So my mate you need to make a adapter 6 inches long with a extra bearing to support the shaft not hard but must be centered for the extra spigot shaft. :)

Well after a month of a 16-hour-a-day shooting schedule and a week to recover I managed to reinvigorate my V8 repower. Saved from the certain death of becoming a 'page two' build ;)

No pics but..

1. Pulled the front-pan sump from the 253 and replaced with a rear-pan one. Also did the pickup whilst I was there.
2. Bolted new engine mounts onto the motor.
3. Dropped the tailshaft.
4. Pulled the exhaust.
5. Pulled the interior.
6. Cleaned up.

So all I gotta do prior to pulling the F is to undo the bell housing ears, remove the shifter and pull the trans tunnel. Gonna pull the motor/box as one single assy. Maybe I'll do the swap this coming weekend!

EDIT: Just remember I gotta build the spacer. Maybe I'll do the swap another weekend.. :(

Gonna take the whole show to a clutch shop and see what they reckon oz. My engineer housemate seems to think that using a high-end bearing for the throw-out bearing will be fine. Better than fine he reckons.

If you need an adaptor sandwich plate to go between things let me know and I can do the CAD file to send to a laser cutter.
