If it was for getting it rego I'd wait till u can get the best exhaust system you can incase he doesn't pass it
Already registered my man!

Stupid question. All I need to get driving is the auto-sparky, and all he needs is a functioning exhaust system. I have enough lengths and bends and mufflers to make one, but I don't have a way to join them. I had a thought: what if I use a piece of straight pipe to sleeve and use those exhaust u-bolt things to hold it tight? Course I'd have to run a slit down the length of the sleeve to make it wrap around the existing pipes, but it's gonna get wrapped anyway. Is this Roadkill levels of stupidity or is it simply brilliant lateral thinking?
A little from column A, and a little from B.
If it's a short term fix to get you to the muffler shop And sparky I think it would be ok.

Okay, I'll do a Sinatra: slit, sleeve and wrap. But not exhaust shop unless I start to suffocate. Thanks lads!

I'd also be trying to connect to what ever exhaust you currently have as soon after the engine as possible.

The system from the Commodore and the 45 are both in the tray. Just need my new studs, one more muffler and to fit my slitted straight pipe, mufflers and wrap and hit the key! Dom dom dom dom.. :D

Okay, how actual loud is an engine with no mufflers and an exhaust a foot long?

Loud and fun, you've never run open header? Shame on you mate!! Put on Road Warrior for some exhaust ideas!! I want some video of you smoking the tires!!

Note the consistent but infrequent contact. One cannot rush a cheap, mobile auto-sparky friend who will lie on the road and rewire your junk again.

Oh he's good to me that man haha.

Right, instead of pissing the neighbours off with open headers I decided to try make my bits and pieces work. For two hours. Then I asked a mate for a muffler and presto - my twin system was born. Why oh why didn't I do this hours ago..

The only downside is that with the Commodore downpipes I couldn't fit the front driveshaft. The upside is that this twin system won't fall off. It's actually pretty solid. And free. So once the engine is running and I've had enough of bombing around the streets in this thing I'll send it into the shop and get a proper exhaust put on it. Then the DS can go in.

Pax side header. That wrap can make any pile of junk look fast!

Pax side system and dump pipe. Yes it's lower than the frame. Yes I don't care.

Drivers side header.

Drivers side system and dump pipe. Yes that's fencing wire. Yes I don't care.

That side pipe gives it a real dirt racer look!

Now there is literally nothing left I can do until old mate arrives tomorrow [fingers crossed].

Left to do when Al is here:

~ Run and/or delete emissions vacuum lines.
~ Wire stuff.
~ Bleed brakes.
~ Do 2nd gear burnouts on a single-spinner 3.7 geared V8 and break something.
~ Visit people I've been meaning to for months. Catskinner, 84TROOPY, sneaky and the lads down at the Australian 40 Series Landcruiser FB page shed. Sorry ozcruiser and west aussie - you're just too far.

The funny thing is, now that I sit and reflect, is that at the start of this 'build' I was doing it for the result and along the way I figured out that you get more out of doing things for the process. I fxxxin swapped a V8 into a ******* FJ45 with no actual skills haha! I fxxxin did that s***! It ain't no show truck, it ain't gonna get you across the Nullabor but fxxxin hell it's right up my alley. Pretty stoked I gotta say. I fxxxin did that s***!

aw mate that makes you sound like you are just about finished;) I enjoyed this thread and soon it will be dead? I can help keep it alive.....

only 2wd? no front tail shaft? YES I DON'T CARE:flipoff2:
