We've been working on this for some time now and are now ready to show what we've been working on! These will be on the website early this upcoming week!

The Cruisers and Company Air to Air Intercooler Kit supplies everything you need to add an Air to Air Intercooler to your Turbocharged FZJ80/LX450. Our intercooler is designed to work with our 1FZ turbo kit but may be able to be used with other turbo set ups. At 24" x 12" x 3" the intercooler core is massive and will provide excellent cooling capability for any setup. The charge pipes are 304 Stainless the charge pipe entering the throttle body includes two 1/8 NPT ports that can be used for a wastegate pressure source and gives the ability to easily install an air temperature sensor for standalone ecu's. Two 11" x 11" transmission coolers stack behind the intercooler increasing cooling capacity over the OEM transmission cooler and keeping the overall intercooler stack depth to 4". All bracketry to support the intercooler is laser cut and CNC formed stainless steel and all hardware included is also stainless preassembled hardware to match factory hardware with the proper JIS bolt heads. By keeping the overall stack to 4" thick and by not putting the transmission cooler in front of the intercooler there is only minor trimming required to reinstall your grille.

Some of the design requirements included:
  • Fitting behind the factory grille, valence, turn signals with minimal trimming. Takes about 10 minutes to mod the grille, valence and turn signals, it really is minimal.
  • Work with the factory AC Dryer in the 95-97 models. Uses the existing AC Dryer bracket and requires slight turning/bending of the lines. 93/4 guys no mods required
  • Fit charge pipes above the bottom of the core support and no passing through the wheel wells. It is all tucked up and could only be compromised in an accident. For you hardcore wheelers everything is tucked up and is impossible to hit.
  • Maximize transmission cooling - dual coolers increase the cooling area of the transmission fluid over the OEM cooler. We tapped into our friends at Wholesale Automatics extensive knowledge to come up with the specific sizing of the transmission cooler.
  • Corrosion resistance. Charge pipes, bracketry and hardware is all stainless. Most of this is on the front of the truck and will see weather.
  • Perfect fit. All bracketry is Laser cut and CNC formed. All pipes are mandrel bent and tig welded in a jig.
  • Working with most aftermarket bumpers - we couldn't test them all but it will fit with ARB, SLEE and @Delta VS front bumpers
  • Work with the OEM Dual Battery Tray - I have dual batteries, most of you guys have dual batteries... No way that was getting sacrificed
  • Include a 1/8 NPT port for an air temperature sensor. Lets be honest, intercoolers go hand in hand with more boost and more boost means stand alone ecu's which need an air temp sensor since the MAF is likely deleted at that point. We've made it easy to add one.
  • Leave the passenger (RH) side charge pipe slightly open ended - W.E. Turbo guys I was thinking of you guys when I made this decision! You deserve cooling benefits too so we split the passenger pipe into two and added a hump hose so that there is some flexibility where that pipe can end up since your compressor outlet lands in a slightly different spot than ours. Full transparency we haven't been able to try it yet but have gotten measurements and think it'll work out.
Pricing:
  • Manual Trans w/ Cruisers and CO Turbo already purchased - $1775
  • Auto Trans w/ Cruisers and CO Turbo already purchased - $1975
  • Manual Trans w/ another turbo kit that is not C&C - $1855
  • Auto Trans w/ another turbo kit that is not C&C- $2055

Manual options do not include the transmission cooler.
Non C&C turbo kit Include silicone couplers and clamps that you may need to finish your install.

Alright, on to the photos!

By “another turbo kit”, do you happen to mean Wits End?
Sorry, got so excited that I posted before reading your entire post which clearly says “most likely but not confirmed”

Any results you can share of IAT vs Post-Intercooler Air Temps?

Very nice work, Looks tight and you guys did a great job getting it all to work/fit !!

@SHELLBACK offer to let me drive it when he gets it back. Very excited about that !! Can't wait !!

Looking forward to seeing Y'all at Cruiser Moab again this year !

Compatible with OEM auxiliary cooling fan?
No unfortunately the dual trans coolers and intercooler use a ton of the limited real estate up front. A slim pusher with a bit of grille trimming would work.

That’s alright! We are working on building a table of ambient temps vs pressure being ran vs post IC. Will share when we have a bit more data. It’s been really cool here so I am looking forward to seeing what it does on hot days.

So nice! I want to install it, even though I don't have a turbo YET.
There, fixed it for you! Thanks @Outsane

Need to test fit with Cummins?

I was here for that trans cooler but then I read it doesn't work with the factory aux fan. 😞

I mean, you could sell that trans cooler setup separately....

There is plenty of room with the trans cooler set up. Fan would likely still have to move a bit but it would definitely fit behind the grille

Killer work! Can it be installed without AC Evac/Recharge for most?

Of course I relocated my Receiver/Drier right to where that pipe goes through the radiator support.... Dammit!

Yes, the holes can be made without breaking the system open and of course you did! :bang:
