Something to consider , maybe we do this trip on our time , not during Cruise Moab. Same destination but with less crowd and time restraints. Bk kind of made reference to it in his post and i talked to Tracey he kind of said the same thing. Just throwing it out there for discussion. And congrats to the Fraizer family on a great family vaca

I like this idea ^

We were there in Mid March, and it was already pretty hot during the day, and crowded. I can only imagine it's so much more hot and crowded six weeks later.

I like the idea of experiencing of a huge event like Cruise Moab, but at the same time, there is something to be said for putting together a group and going out there on our own. The basic registration cost for CM adds an additional $175 to this trip.

I can be swayed either way.

For the record, I am now a proud member of the CLCC, and not just glomming onto this trip :flipoff2:

Well that makes it official that this is happening. I'm in also. Simplified version is just drive the taco out. Complicated version is the group gets bigger and we explore more detailed options like shipping trucks and I wheel the forty. These are all good options.

But more likely, it'll be a Team Thomas outing... still working on the idea.

I'm working the wife/ family angle myself. But not making headway our family vacation to Orlando is just to close to comeup with the money.

I'm open to the independent floater weekend idea, but it's also kind of nice to support an established event and show some support from an east coast club. Gives us some good trail cred with the west side people. The other issue is that we flounder trying to successfully plan the event because we are flexible on timeframe. Let's face it, that we are pretty good at talking and no action sometimes, and at least if we decide that Cruise Moab 2016 is the date and event we are after, we have a better organizational likelyhood of success. It could take months just to decide on an alternative date.

I would do either and have a fantastic time, but I think I would prefer Cruise Moab for many of the reasons above. Plus I just like meeting new people, and many of the people I have seen on the boards but never met. Checking out the other rigs, t-shirts, raffle etc. I vote for Cruise Moab.

Rising Sun has to get special use permits for groups the size we are talking. I'll reach out to them if we think we'd rather do this in cooler weather on our own.

So true...and then it would have to be a time period that would work for all interested parties.

Like I said earlier, I could be swayed either way, buuuuut... from a mere scheduling point, it is probably wisest to stick with the original plan to do Cruise Moab.

This way the date is already set.

So, I'm in agreement with Bart...

I'll make sure I get my AC fixed by then;)

Who is considering making the drive and who thinks they are going to ship it out there ?

I'm turn between the 2. I think it's break even between the 2. Less stress on shiping. But I do like a good road trip.

Not shure I will have the funds to go.

I would almost definitely ship my truck, otherwise I'd miss too much work.

I'm self employed and my boss is a real A-hole!

I would lean heavily towards shipping my 40 and flying out. Meeting up at the nearest airport with other shippers and renting cheap wheels to get to the event. No cost of shipping would be prohibitive compared to the approx 6 days of lost work spent driving. I also would much prefer having my 40 out there with the open top to enjoy cruise Moab. Driving the 40 out would not be an option. If no one else ships, I would likely drive the taco out instead. Matt Morty has also expressed shipping is his only option. Between his Ford tow rig, trailer and the 4 Runner, odds of making it there iand back without a disaster would be slim. Overall, as this plays out, I think we will have guys doing it both ways. Shipping groups should form groups of three and make arrangements with private carriers. I was also thinking this fall we should call a private Moab meeting outside our regular club Wednesday. Get everyone interested in going to attend and we can really form plans and strategies for getting there. Once we have some firm interest from attendees, we can look into solid arrangements. Passengers also should speak up too. It's a no-brainer to go if you aren't wheeling your own truck. There will be seats available, and it's a great opportunity for passengers to tag along.

In regards to organizing a meeting of those going, I was thinking we might want to see if we could get some the guys from BBRC who have to done Cruise Moab to join us and share their experiences. I would be willing to drive to Fredericksburg to meet whomever might be willing. I'll even buy a pitcher of beer.

Gents, sorry for the late reply on this. I am all in on this, that is if it is not too crowded now. I have family in Grand Junction, which could serve as a rallying point for some of us for part of the time if needed. Also, if some of us cannot make the drive maybe fly into Grand Junction, meet with the Club and proceed to Moab... just a thougt. Grand Junction is a drive but not that far from Moab, about 115 miles of i hour and 30 minutes. There is plenty of space to park trailers and what not at my in-laws if need be. I just need to let them know with a heads-up. If any of this sounds good let me know.
