Can you guys guide me where to start looking at this? I can’t see anything in the manual
I went down to the Autobody shop with my new clock spring and had them put it in.

If I ever figure it out I will definitely post details! There seems to be zero information anywhere.
I just started having the same issue on my ‘17. I haven’t used it in months so I’m not sure when it started but doing an 8 hr drive without it is about as much fun as a kick in the 🥜

Clock spring is a great place to start, the problem is typically all of your buttons would be intermittent. I have the same problem and just replaced the cruise control switch with a brand new OEM one; no change. I'm going to attack the clock spring next.

Toyota Part Number for Land Cruiser 84306-0E010

All my buttons all work, no issues. Only CC doesn't work.

Suuuuuper simple;

***DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL BEFOREHAND***

Install your new clock spring, reinstall steering wheel, THEN pull the clock spring retainer, reverse the process and good to go.

oooh thanks for that!

i am going to do leather cover when i do that will it - appreciate it

So I have similar symptoms. Everything on the CC stalk worked but then the on/off function became intermittent and now its inop. Is the Clock Spring the first place to start? I've already checked fuses.

You’re one step ahead of me. My horn stopped working. I consulted Mud, and everything said “it’s the clock spring”, so I replaced the clock spring. Turns out it was the fuse. I didn’t even check it. $200 mistake.

is it worth checking the CC fuse?

Yeah, don’t be like me and fail to check a $0.05 part before buying a $200+ part.

Not sure cruise has its own dedicated fuse, though.

i need to figure the CC

how to know if it has a fuse?

What's your model & year? (if you put it in your sig it'll help avoid some back and forth)

(EDIT: I was incorrect about probably not clock spring... I blame fatigue from work. If on/off don't work it could easily be the clock spring, as the simple continuity signal to tell the ECM you want cruise on wouldn't make it through. Techstream would be super helpful here, just look for the signal in the live data feed.)

Alternately if you know how to use a multimeter you can pull the airbag and column trim and check for these values at the switch and other side of the clock spring.

(for RyanCA yours is probably the same, as dubyahard's 08LX is the same as my 13LC in this area, and toyota has done it this way for at least a couple of decades)

For the record there is no CC fuse, it's all part of the main ECU system so if the engine is running, it isn't the fuse.

My Cruise control on/off stopped working abruptly. No dash light, no functionality of the cruise. Stalk on/off feels the same, nothing seems physically broken with the stalk.

I checked the fuse first hoping it was a .05c fix. But as others have said, its not a solo CC fuse, and likely that other systems would be down if just the fuse had blown. Fuse was fine.

I have noticed an audible whine/ squeak when I turn the steering wheel over a few times. It seems like its coming from the column behind the wheel itself around where it joins the dash. It has been like this for YEARS though and is more audible in winter time for some reason.

Is this a symptom of a failing (or failed) clock spring? I don't want to spend on a $300 part when it could be another culprit.

I have the whine/groan in cold weather, too.

It's not related to the clock spring - at least, replacing the clock spring didn't fix it for me!

If you pull the steering column trim you can check for continuity and resistance values just before the clock spring to rule it out.

Very serious note though: if you do so on the wrong wires you risk triggering the airbag. So I'd strongly consider removing it first. The wires generally are very obvious, bright yellow connectors and such.. but still.

For the record I edited my above post about it probably not being the clock spring.. I was reading the diagram functions wrong.
