Sooo...last night my wife was driving to Walgreens to get a few things. On the way home, about 2 blocks from our house a lady pulls out in front of her at an intersection. She said she stopped at the red, pulled out and then stopped again. My wife started sliding on the ice and was able to swerve enough to hit her in the rear instead of straight T-bone. The lady was driving a subaru forrester.

She was a first trying to not admit guilt to the cops buy my wife straightened that out rather quickly. :D Lady said she was having a "bad day" and my wife says really? I have a 10 day old baby crying at home, I have to get a DNC procedure tomorrow and now this."

It doesn't look "that" bad by any means, but it looks a bit tweaked for sure. Hood doesn't close right, bumper is peeled back looks like some frame horn damage, fender is out of wack and the one that worries me is that the door groans and opens goofy. The A/C was spewing out. Haven't had a chance to get a real good look at it yet.

can't wait to see the damage on this  for insurance. Past two 80's we have had, had ARB's lol...now the one that doesn't have one gets wrecked...this 80 was VERY VERY clean.

That will buff out...seriously...I think she will rise from the ashes. It will be interesting to see what your insurance company says. I hope you know a great body shop.

Cheers.

Good luck. how did the POS turn out?

Forrester was "undriveable" no one was hurt which was good, but the forrester is DEFINITELY totalled, I didn't get any pics of it, but basically she smashed it behind the drivers door, rear corner on an angle.

We have state farm and my MIL works at state farm for an agent so I'm not too worried, just something more to deal with.

That's a shame, it does look like a clean truck. Hope the wife's ok.

That right there is the only reason I put an ARB on. Ugly as they are they offer decent protection for the money. I don't know how much better things would have been with an ARB/Slee/TJM/tube, but they couldn't have been worse.

I cannot understand Mr T's reasoning behind plastic and sheet metal bumpers.

Glad to hear the wifee is unhurt with all she has on her mind.
Guess it's a good thing the bone head was unhurt also.

Glad your wife is ok and hope the DNC goes well.

Cruisers can be fixed.

Glad everyone was ok. Maybe with the insurance $$ you can get your ARB. BTW nice rig...I have the same color combo.

I too am glad that your wife was not injured.
The FJ80 is a great safe car for the wife and kiddos (that's what we used before getting the Sienna).

Not to hijack your thread but I just wanted to give you my ordeal and inital estimate for reference. But it sounds like your fender is jammed into your door jam based on the squeeking door issue. That will definitely add more than my estimate since mine only states to replace the fender trim and repaint...

I had the same thing happen just to me but it was a Toyota Highlander that hit me trying to cross a left in front of me over double yellow lines. She first hit me in the front bumper then my momentum and her bouncing off, ended up hitting me one more time on the front rim side. My airbag didn't go off either.. nor did the ladies in the Highlander. It was about a 35mph impact.

Similar damage:
Front left bumper and side fender flair.
Also hit my Enkei rim and gouged the edge and messed up the alignment.
Receiver/Dryer hit & AC sprayed out
Cracked parking light cover
Bent up bumper pieces and near the turn signal light.
other misc damage underneath.... body alignment etc..

Estimate came back at $3062.71

The other insurance has agreed to pay for all and if there are any issues to adjust then just call them back. I'm letting my body guy deal with them and I have copies of all estimates and etc. I am replacing the front bumper with the Slee ShortBus Bumper :bounce:
I'm so psyched!!!!

Here are pics of the accident from my crappy cell camera

Glad that your wife is ok.

You might get lucky and have your insurance company total it and then you can buy it back and have some money left over for more mods.

Ben,

Glad that your wife is OK!

It could've been far worse... going faster, your wife with unborn baby, etc... Count your blessings (I'm sure you guys are!)

Keep us posted with how much damage it has caused and what the insurance says, etc...

Glad your wife is ok! All I can say is that sucks! Hope everything works out for you.

that sucks, sorry to hear that.

Ben, so why in the heck do you keep buying these great 80's, build them up, sell them, buy another one, build it, sell it, and buy another one? I don't get it?

my guess is they total it.

it doesnt look that bad all,but I bet they will total it...it doesnt take much. Im glad your wife is OK and glad she was in a cruiser when it happened, please keep us posted

Sorry to hear thus Ben. I hope she is OK with the DNC.

Glad everyone was OK. I really doubt they total it. You'll be able to fix it and have enough for any bumper you want; with nice lights. I'd say your bad door noise is just the fender.

That's a 3,500 dollar dent.
