Cranking torsion bars

It's the same torsion bar design used in dozens of cars from 6+ car manufactures. Google torsion bar and any info you find is basically universal (i.e. the concept is the same across the board).

Once you get your 100 crawl underneath and you will see all the pieces and components. Before getting my 100 (I came from a 80 as well) I was confused by torsion bar and though it was more complicated than it really is.

Hoser's pic explains it quite well. seems that the coilover concept is a great idea. Now I don't understand why that solution was dismissed. How could a flexy bar compete with a spring? A torsion bar doesn't inhibit the ability for the axle to droop?...seems it would. school me please.

It looks like the tube that goes down over the shock body to make the lower spring seat has a ring fixed in the top end that sits on the top of the shock body and that's what retains the bottom of the spring? The poster mentioned them being progressive rate springs and bad roads, maybe that's the problem they're disigned to fix. I'm happy with my TB's but I think that's a very clever idea.

Ok folks,

Let me introduce you V2 on photos below.
I would like to response some of you as well:

Also if that is a stock 100 shock or not.
I don't see the issue with torsion bars and I don't see the benefit of this, other than that is a novel idea and the poster might not have access to new torsin bars so this is easier for them.

Yes, this is stock shocks. Guys, our goal is to have a vehicle that fits a deep mud and 500 miles asphalt driving at the same time. Russian roads are dam long and different quality. For example, user did pull off ARB torsion and replaced with our springs and now enjoying his 100. So we are going to tweak original Toyota design to make that lovely 100 even better under any condition.

Well, for the sake of real engineering spirit, I have an offer for you.

I am going to send test kit to Slee or anybody who you all folks decide. I just need shipping address. No charge from anybody, I just wish the tester to install kit and to publish his impressions there, if we really beat everybody in this area.

So, who dares to install and post real words about out stuff right there?

could i get a copy of the prints for those....preferably on microfilm:D
I can offer you Youtube only ;)

X2 I sent a PM as well. I will be happy to test and report.

Thanks to everybody who sent PM.
I would like to wait if Mr. Slee wish to test that.
Pfran42 is first so far. Pls understand guys I will send one kit only.

Btw we say big respect to Sleeoffroad, we had borrow some ideas from them, regarding to lifting.
I will discuss litfting stuff on another topic later.

If pfran backs out I'll step up. After 6 sets of shocks on the 100 I'm confident I'll put them through their paces.

Paul- what are you doing with your 5 million dollar kings and control arms? You just put them on...lol

I was going to use you as my lab rat. I just wanted to "own" the project. I would prefer they go to Slee as well but if Christo isn't interested...

lol....I'm just worried about the shock mounts. Are they able to support the weight of the 100? I would put LX torsion bars in to keep the full load off the shock mounts. That's my only concern. I would love to try a new setup on the front, my bilstiens are toast after 35K...text me when you can meet, I can get those mounts whenever.

No worries, that has been used for 3 years. All our 100's are heavy loaded, diesel engines, dual batteries. Even stock, they weigh more that gasoline vehicles.

Here is a few sample photos that were tuned up in our garage. We make all extra stuff like bumpers, lift kits and sliders using own engineering solutions. These 2 cars are driving last 3 years just fine.

Well, if you have not received a test vehicle I would be happy to push them and write a full blown review. I am very interested in these. PM me if your offer still stands for a test rig.

Tamerlan,

What about 200oUZJ's idea of using your coil over set up with the smaller LX T Bars? Would this be too much, or a nice combo for bearing the load. What is th price of your set up by the way? Is the travel the same as stock with your setup. Would it benefit from after market control arms?

also, what was the video? was that a joke?

So what's the point of these, other than being different? Just wondering.

LX T bars are odd there, in our opinion. Everything runs just fine.

I am not about to discuss price yet (as well as any sale), I am there for the true engineering talks.

Yes vertical travel is good point. Answer is yes, we make stock. However, we can make custom coil lenght for lifted configs.
Right now, this device might require to remove custom tuned arms, and place stock back. Next post goes to pfran42, exactly about that.

Point is to tweak our lovely 100's so they can drive long asphalt distances with maximum comfort, and fight heavy Russian mud as well at the same time. Torsion bars are good, but about 50 our happy users aren't in rush to put TB back.

We just apply a good engineering skill and experience to a great vehicle. That is fun. Guys, doesn't it worth a patent?

Ok guys I am getting several PMs that I had to delete, asking for test. Please don't send me PMs as I have limit of 5 messages yet and inbox get full quickly.

To be clear, I am sending one (1) test kit to the person who you guys decide most authoritative in this area.
So far pfran42 is first, he sent first PM and has support of other guys. The whole idea is to say yes, we have modified original Toyota design to make it much much better without screwing some driving parameters.

I would preffer Slee as test authority initially, only thing he either didn't see this topic yet, or absolutely not interested.
I am still hesitated to PM him. Is there any way to ask Slee for a favor to test? A negative response is good as well, so I send to pfran42 in that case.
