I think it was a combination of things. Started in the mid-70s. Canceled in the mid 80s. The base of tower 2 can be seen in aerial views along with much of the concrete structures that would have been the reactors and boilers. Cost soared and I think the they were facing mounting environmental and safety issues. They also own hundreds of miles of easement that was to be for the distribution network that would have accompanied it.
Last Friday in Nola. Chart Room is my favorite dive bar in a city of great dive bars....
