Costco has a 14 (might be 16) drawer stainless rolling toolbox for $750 right now. I was wondering if anyone had it and if so, how they like it. It has ball bearings and I think it comes with a lifetime warrenty. It's not a name brand, but seems like a pretty good deal.

I have it and love it, works great for the home shop i just couldnt see justifying a snap on or craftsman box at the similar size your in the thousands

Thats awesome. It looked like a good deal. How are the ball bearings? Does it actually come with a lifetime warranty? I almost pulled the trigger on a snap-on box about half the size and twice the price....

The lifetime warranty is through Costco. One reason Costo is 100000000000X better than wallys world #2 warehouse store. Costco has half the number of stores, but still produce more sales than wally worlds copy cat version.

I have this tool box at home. It works well and is made as well or better than crapsman, but with better price and MUCH better company to back it up.

You could easily buy 4 of these toolboxes for the price of 1 snap on.

This thread on pirate talks about these toolboxes.
Looking for a toolbox--$800 CSPS at Costco or $800 HF model? - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board

Also, if you have a Costco executive membership ($100), then you'll be getting 2% rebate back on your purchase.

haven't looked at this seriously but doesn't that sound like more than the Craftsman equivalent? Seems like you can get a lot of the latter for $800, especially on their frequent sales. And more versatile combos?

A buddy of mine bought 2 of those a while back, and is very happy with them.

bearing on my have been great ive had it for about 2-3 years now with no complaints at all. you wont be disapointed with it and with the money you save on it you can spend it on more important things like tools to fill it with :D

Is it the big CSPS one? I have one that I got at Sam's for about that price. I think I paid 650-700 for it. It is awsome and I am thinking about buying another. No Costco here:frown:

I bought one of the original made by Hammerhead. It is a great toolbox. It was also made in America. The ones Costco carries now are not the same quality and are made in China. It looks as thought it should hold up, but again it is not the same quality as the unit that Costco used to carry. For the price it is still an excellent buy. As a cost comparison, the unit Costco used to sell for $699 sold direct for $3,749 a year after Hammerhead ended their contract with Costco. I just wish I had bought a second unit. Hammerhead only makes the full width 41" which now sells for $3,249.

I got mine tookbox from Costco over a year a go and like it very much, I think it's a best deal out there for the money.

I've had one for 2 or 3 years now and love it.

The box available at Sam's is a little nicer and a little cheaper. More drawers and slightly taller for less money. I'm not a big fan of sam's club and I do most of my shopping at Costco, but on this particualar item Sam's is the better deal.

I guy I work with has the Sam's box and it's a rock solid unit.

Both the sam's and costco boxes are a steal compared to prices anywhere else.

We don't have any sam's clubs in portland...do you know of the closest one to the PNW? I'll check the website.

The difference between this 14 drawer and the craftsman 14 drawer it the size of the drawers. The costco/sam's box is good sized with a top drawer that opens vertically. I have a lot of tools and need a big box.

well, I did look at Craftsman boxes given the thread above. From what I could see and recall, it looks like the big Craftsman boxes in the $700 range are narrower than the Costco box for the same height. No idea about the quality comparison.
So it looks like the Costco one may well indeed be a better buy. You guys know better.
But interestingly, it does look like, based on what I saw at Sears, that one would end up getting more storing space by buying several of the lower priced smaller units rather than one big one. Odd. That right? I have some inexpensive Craftsman boxes, which likely don't have fancy bearings and all and they do the job just fine.

It is worth the extra $$$ to have ball bearing drawers. Drawers can get real heavy when you load it up with tools. Just how many tool boxes are you planning on owning in your lifetime?
