Great news man....tick borne diseases are no joke. This is awesome. Even though we haven't met, I felt really bad for you. The timing of it as you went out on your own and all really sucked. Couple of weeks and you'll be back at it!

You REALLY need to swap stories with @Trollhole who went through a mysterious ailment that was eventually traced back to a tick bite. He was one of less than a dozen in the US confirmed with the disease and in the minority of those that survived it.

I had mono last summer. It would hit me out of no where and I would sleep for 2-3 days and then basically be fine for about 2 weeks and then the cycle would repeat. I spent $750 at the hospital after the 3rd time it happened they didn't even suspect mono because it was intermittent but after all the tests were negative I asked for the mono test and BINGO.... Anyway to get better I stopped drinking, cleaned up my diet some. I would take a nap if i was tired no matter when and I didn't do any really strenuous work. Sometimes I would take a 2-3 hour nap in the middle of the afternoon.

I caught a cold after partying last weekend and it nocked me out so it looks like I need to go back to the healthy habits of last summer.

You will get better but as you already experienced just like I did if you do some manual labor because your feeling fine one day you can expect it to take you down for a day or two.

Thank you! That was much appreciated and needed honestly. Been feeling better physically each day over the last week but just not there mentally yet... it's weird. No go...or focus.. very frustrating. Never felt like this before and not handling it that we'll. Dr. said chemical imbalance from being sick for so long and all my levels are off. It will come back once I start eating regularly again and working/doing things I enjoy.
Thanks again for all the positive words and support from everyone here!
I'm gonna give it go on Monday. I have an OME lift to do on an 80 that was dropped off right before I got sick. That should be a good starting project to see where I'm at.

Great to hear you are feeling better, Rich!

Not to sound like a momma or anything but I hope you don't jump back in too quick. I imagine this downtime has been hard, especially considering how productive you were before this started. Give yourself a chance to heal ok? I tried to jump back in after a bad bout of the flu a few years ago and I had some kind of relapse that really kicked my ass.

I contracted the Heartland Virus at GSMTR in 2009. I remember the small tic bite on the back of my leg. I saw the tick. Ended up being a lone star tick. A few days later and I had lost all energy. I was along with Rick running the show but I felt like crap the whole week. Got home and was in bed for a week. I thought it was from exhaustion. It wasn't. Over the next 3 years I struggled. It was hard to get out of bed. Every muscle and joint in my body hurt. I was put through every test known to man. Nobody could figure out what was wrong with me. My red blood cell count was really low and my vitamin D level was non existent. My main Dr didn't understand how I was still walking. IT was bad for two years with me working a couple hours and then going home. When I started Trollholes I would work as long as I could. Some days not at all. It took me about two years before I started feeling better. 7 years later I think I'm over it. Though I have some terrible back problems. The Dr.s never did diagnose me. 4 years after the illness started I saw an article on Facebook about This Heartland Virus. Looked up the symptoms and they fit me to a T. Called the CDC and had them review my case. I ended up being the 13th know case for a disease there is no cure for except time. Tics can rock your world.

Thanks and I know.. I've already relapsed once. plus I still don't have all my strength or energy so things are a little slow going anyways... but at least my head is starting to feel better too now.
thanks again!

I CAN NOT IMAGINE GOING THAT LONG LIKE THAT!! I was only sick for 7 weeks and depressed and ready to loose my mind. let alone 7 years! The first 3 weeks were like that for me low white blood cell count and platelets? pain all over, could hardly walk or stand up straight, with random sweats and migraines... the doxycycline ruined my digestive system which led to a blockage. that felt great! thank good it passed and I didn't need surgery. I'm feeling better now and able to do more longer. hopefully I'm done with it.
But your story is terrible and I cant imagine going through that for that long! Glad to hear your better..

cheers

Come on Rich, I became a member today, we get the truck in two days and you already ruin the fun of the "Hunt" for that perfect part..

I have spent years around Dakar motorcycle R&D and adventure bike builders and sometimes with masters like the Unicat/Kamas guys and you are right there with any of them..

You products are practical but they also have a great sense of proportion, elegance and even a sense of humor, you pride for craftsmanship exudes in every detail..

About Illness I feel your pain, I injure my spine really bad a few months back and now motorcycles/bicycles and obviously skateboards are out of the question, so cars are It for now on (I never really like them, to chubby, to clumsy, you know, Not a slim agile bike.

But you know what you adapt, you rebuild, you "Land Cruiser" you way into Valhalla if necessary..

The minute I start to break my stuff you have one more patient client on your waiting list, "No questions ask" (for sure you know far better than I do) again outstanding work, get better soon..

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the very kind words! Congrats on the 80 and sorry about your back. Back injuries suck .unfortunately I know all about those as well. Got in a bad car accident on my way home from work 4 years ago and can't ride anymore either. Comfortably anyways. I had to have spinal cord surgery, right shoulder surgery and have my pelvis realigned. Good stuff. Was out of work for 17 months then was light duty for 2 more. I still have pain today. Got a nice 9" scar from that...It was then my wife found Ingrid my 60 series on ebay. And surprised me with her. The best therapy I could have asked for. Really cheered me up and i still have her. Good luck with your 80 and I'd love to be part of your build.
Thanks again..
Rich

We've been thinking about you Rich. Just give yourself time to recuperate! Health for us fabricators is few and far between it seems.

Let me know if I can help with anything.

J

And speaking of back injuries I just saw you injured yours J. Hope your doing better! And it's not too bad. Take it easy...

As far as my health goes... I'm finally feeling better!! And have worked on some projects to ease back into things and feel pretty good. So im excited to pick up where I left off and get the rear bumper going again as well as other parts. I have received a lot of emails regarding purchasing the rear, the front, and front & rear bumper combos. I'm going to need to put together a list of definites and see how many are still interested after my 7 weeks off sick leave. Lol.
Please message me if you are still interested in purchasing and I will get a list together then I can better figure out lead times for people. There are 4 or 5 of you that I talk to regularly and were the first ones to express interest and are on the list.

Thank you again everyone for all the kind words and support.

Rich, what is your status on being able to take new orders? If not now, when do you foresee being able to start ramping up again? Need a front bumper my man! Hope you are well.

Hey I will be taking orders soon. I have an 80 series that was dropped off a week before I got sick. Its a low milage close to stock that I'm kitting out for an African trip.
Lift, tires, rear bumper, possibly a front bumper and a rack when it comes back. Relocating the breathers and addressing anything I find while doing the work. He already made a pretty nice rear drawer setup.
This was supposed to be a project I had two months to work on in between bumper builds and such. Well then as you all know I got sick. It is supposed to be finished by August 2nd. I started it last week. It's gonna be close as I'm not a 100% .
Then immediately after I have 4 rears to build. 2 of which have been waiting LONG before I even started the rear build.
As for fronts they go together fairly quick now as I've made quite a few and have the process pretty streamlined. Give me a couple weeks to see where I'm at and how many of the prior rear inquiries are still solid. Then I'll be doing a run of fronts again .

Thanks and sorry for the delay. The best I can do as its just me.

Rich

Oh and I got a couple messages regarding how far does my bumper sticker out past stock. "It looks long" . I measured on this stock one and took pics. Mine only sticks out just under a 1/2" further than stock. And has a gain in clearance aside from obviously the stock receiver removal. And adds more protection below and around the tail lights. As the corners don't come in like the stock.
