Does anyone know the correct ECM ECU for my 88 FJ62?
It has a 89661-60011,, & from what I am finding it should be 60021..maybe PO switched out, idk
Would either work in a 88?
I am thinking of getting replacement to solve a check engine light that will not reset or show a code
Thks

don't get fixated on the numbers, as long as the plugs plug into it you'll be fine, the 3FE ECU for an 80 series has different plugs and will not work.

-60011 is showing for a "california spec" FJ62. It should work fine also in New York. (edit: maybe not based on what is discussed below).

That is not true. The 90-92 FJ80 ECU does not work for the 88-89 FJ62. They both have the same plugs but they don't interchange. Ask me how I know.

One has a yellow connector in back and the other is grey. I'd have to dig into the garage for more details.

Idle air control valves are different too. Both bolt on but they are different.

EDIT:
from the thread I linked below:

"
Just to clarify ... As far as FJ62 3FEs go you can use either ECU. I have both the 89661-60020 and the 89661-60021, and have run both with my engine. The microfiche posted seems to suggest that the 60020 supercedes to the 60021. Don't know about the CA spec ECU. I seem to recall it had another sensor (EGR temp?) that the Federal engines didn't get.

The FJ80s had a different ignition (coil/ignitor) so I'm not surprised they are different. "

my mistake, thanks for the info

I had wondered if the only difference between the two FJ62 ECUs was Cali/Fed or if the later one had slightly better tuning than the early one (or not). If the only difference is the use of an EGR temp sensor then that's pretty useless in my application lol.
