So this whole lock down is actually turning out to be a real pain. Work is in chaos and I am definitely not going to be able to get away this weekend. I am thinking we wait and see how this all shapes up so am suggesting we put this off until 4/3-5 or at least revisit it the week after next. Of course if the rest are able to make next weekend awesome, post up the pics!
Here is the report from last year... 2019 Trip
Location: Alder Canyon in the Upper Coyote Area south of Anza.
When: 3/27-29/2020
In relation to Bailey's Cabin...
You basically take the trail to Baileys and at the Alder sign turn right. Farther up the way you come to a fork and want to stay to the right to find our epic camping spot by the creek. If you get into one of the washes north of the trail and miss the sign, you will come to the end of the line just passed Baileys, back track and make a left at or near Baileys and you will find the sign.
Many of you have probably heard of Bailey's Cabin. We have camped there, and it does have a coolness factor, but it gets extremely windy, there is no creek, and it is easy to lose your kids in the scrub brush. We went to Alder Canyon and found it very well wind protected, much more secluded, with a creek great for frog catching, dam building, and camping chair resting while you have a beer. It's good.
As for things to do, there are a number of trails and washes in the area to explore as well as hiking. I would bring my mountain bike and do some exploring that way.
Anyway, the weather is looking to be mild. This place is accessible for day or weekend trip. Any takers?
Frank
