Looking back through all the old Kate build Pics.

This was one of the coolest Phases.

The rear axle was a Upside-Down 9" axle with Unimog outers.

Because of the gear reduction boxes you have to run the 3rd member upside down. This ads the problem of oiling the pinion at speed since the 9" is designed to be low.

Tom at Sunray designed a custom Geroter that picked up gear oil and channeled it through custom grooves in the Pinion housing.

The brakes on a Mog are super heavy so we took them off and then used a pinion brake on it.

Total weight was #280 and look at the clearance.

Unreal axle.

That is really really cool.

I would shutter at the $$$ you shelled out to build that.

Portals would be badass on a 200.

A 200 off-road would be badass portals or not.

I had seen some prototypes for IFS portals, but I don't know if they ever came into fruition.

Stupid question:

Don't portals usually really screw up your gearing?

I think you also have to run giant tires to bring the gearing back in line :grinpimp:

Hmm. A 200 on 40s.....(boner)
