I am looking at buying a 2005 Land Cruiser 100. According to the dealer the cool box (“fridge”) between the front seats does not work. The fan is working but it does not cool.

How does the cool box work? Is it simply connected to the AC-system or is it something more advanced?

Any ideas where to start trouble shooting?

Any wild guess on what it could cost to repair?

Even if the cool box is not the most important feature for me, I like having everything working.

Thanks!!

Ohhh fancy.

Pretty sure it's run from the AC and has hard lines going into it but I'm not totally sure. They are probably rotted / leaking / etc.

Does your AC blow cold?

Probably the same or similar setup as the 200 series I imagine. Try searching in that section for more info.

The cool box between the front seats was a standard option when the Land Cruiser was sold in my country.

Great advice, thanks!

The AC works great, very cold air.

When looking at the parts diagram it actually looks like a real fridge. It has parts like "pipe cooler refrigerant liquid" and "valve cooling box expansion".

Toyota got back to me and the price for a new cool box is $2250(!) Unfortunately neither a complete unit or spare parts are no longer available.
