So we ran into a great deal on Craigslist and I managed to get LC Torsion bars, Rear Springs, and Rear shocks for $100! Today we swapped out the 25MM TBars and installed the LC 28MM Tbars. Definitely made for a change. Feels stiffer and less floaty. As I was deciding to swap out shocks I see that the truck has 29-4499 Bilsteins on the rear already. Trouble is I cannot track down that Bilstein # so have no idea if the LC shocks are any better. The LC shocks are 48511-60492 SG1 Tokico Japan. Also it appears when I caliper the springs they are the same diameter as the LC springs. I think perhaps the Previous Owner swapped to LC springs, and LC Bilstein Shocks, and just left the Tbars LX470 part. Any advice on these Bilstein Part numbers?? They show a date on the Bilsteins of 10/12/12.

man, surprised that nobody is able to help me here. Usually there's plenty of people who can help me. :(

Well you are asking for us for help on finding the bilstein shocks, but not really giving us any info to go on besides a manufacturing date.

What about the front shocks? Are those also billies?

Honestly it’s going to come down to personal preference. If you want to know if the bilsteins are the correct length for your application, you can cycle the suspension. If they’ve been working just fine this whole time and you don’t mind the ride then your probably fine keeping them on there. If you’d like the peace of mind of having new OEM shocks on there, then just swap them out.

If it were me, I’d put on the OEM shocks.

OK so I guess I did not realize my question was lost in my paragraph. What I was asking is:

Before I go through the hassle of swapping out the current Billes for the LC OEM I just wanted to see if perhaps the Bilstein was just as good.

I have reached out to Bilstein, Junior Africa Technical & Warranty Support Expert thyssenkrupp Bilstein of America, Inc, to be exact. With a photo I provided he was able to determine that the Bilstein shock was actually a proprietary unit that was built for Arnott, actual Bilstein Part# F4-BE5-H941-t0. But no longer being made. I know of Arnott Industries, and my belief was that they are a solid organization. So it makes me think the Bille shock is just as good as the LC. As I said the truck does have the rear coils with the same diameter of the LC coils. So it appears aside from the Torsion bars not being corrected, the conversion was sufficient. No need to swap out any other parts just yet. Now I need to go take it in to get the Sunroof all replaced. One thing after another with this rig so far, my original price was 6K, and I have put over 4K more into it.

Sorry I cannot help.
Have you tried a local Bile dealer?
was able to just contact a tech expert at Bilstein NA directly. Ended up getting a really cool guy who understood all about the conversions on these AHC systems. He got back to me immediately and provided me everything I needed!! Love Bilstein!

SO? What did you end up with?

Love Bilstein!

You may be the only person to have ever said that on this forum

Bilstein has a bad rep with pretty much anyone with a toyota. Say bilstein in a group of yota enthusiasts and someone is bound to give you a dirty look.

I know some Honda crowds love them, as do the BMW folk...

Interesting timing on this thread... I just picked up a set of these to throw in when I lift my 100 hopefully in the near future, sorry for the delay in chiming in @COLandCrusher

So to add a bit more information, in case anyone else comes across this while searching for information:

Front shock part number from Arnott is 29-4498, Bilstein part number is F4-BE5-H940-T, shock body reads 0302121 H940-T

I have OE Bilsteins or Race built Konis on my Miatas, and plan to end up with the same on my BMWs... Haha

Those guys aren't ever in the middle of nowhere in the desert ;)
Or are they?
