Next install: Con-Ferr roof rack.

Got this off a parts rig purchased about 3 weeks ago. It had 3/4 inch Plywood on it and crumbled off it was so rotted. The paint isn't too bad like some threads here... but a quick hammering, sandblast and powdercoat will make this a more worthy feat (knowing it isn't going to rust on my wife's rig).

- Has anyone put the Con-Ferr roof rack on top of the Factory rack? Any issues or did you pull the Factory rack and weld the holes shut first? Asking because keeping the factory rack is a plus to me.

- Does anyone have any spare gutter attachments for sale? I wrecked 3 pretty bad as well as took out the OME Drivers side Australian Miror.. doh! The rack was heavy.

Some pictures of the dirty abused rack.

The OEM or dealer installed rack is a piece of junk.... mine went in the dumpster. I would sugguest you inspect for leaks or rust issues around the install.... when mine came off it was not pretty "underneath".
I took the factory rack and the runners off, once I saw the damage they caused. Your's looks pretty good from the pics, so you may not have the same problem. Its worth looking into.

I certainly like the drip rail racks better.

Those gutter rails don't look too hard to fab.

you definitely need to take off the long strips. they amount of crap under there is unbelievable. I used rubbing compound and got it all looking new and put them back on, but i should have left them off. on the rails, take them off and leave the screws in place. put them through a rubber washer and silicone the hole. too much trouble to weld the hole. quite a mess up on the roof.

i took the back left hole and drilled it out, added a grommet and have all my rack lights run through 1 hole. you can get from that hole down the rear pillar to the left side rear panel. put on a waterproof electrical connector so if you remove the rack, there is no wire cutting.

got my plug at Harley Davidson. can get part #'s if interested. i have the diagram for all their waterproof plugs available.
