Xmas camping in the Savannah: the fuel tank of the Pajero has come loose. With some rope we fixate it.

Xmas camping in the Savannah: the rope has cut loose within 15 minutes, so again we use flip flops to protect the rope from sharp edges.

I forgot to ask when you were here, what is the cost of living in Suriname compared to other countries in South America?

Okay, I am thinking it would end up in the middle on the list of most expensive countries in South America. Looking at the GNP and comparing it with other countries. I think it would be unfair to compare our cost of living now with the cost of living in Argentina 5 years ago and say it is less or more.

check this list, and it will give you an impression.

I just wanted to let you guys know of this wonderful concept I found. [or did it find me?] Maybe you all are familiar with this, I wasn't.

Jesse, is making all sorts of Land Cruising paper models. I provided some images of our BJ45 as he was working on his latest work the 45.

I am hoping to get a modified BJ45 model with all the gear on it as we have it and have it available for you all somehow. Check out his site: PaperCruiser

Adventurous greetings,
Coen

Got myself an Indian tatoo!

Adventurous greetings,
Coen

Let me guess..... it's a henna tattoo.

Rudi

How long and how painful was the tatoo?

Not painful at all. Done in a jiffy.

Let me guess..... it's a henna tattoo.

Nope. This is not the first time. In the Brazilian Amazone I have had similar tattoos put on me. The Amerindians use some sort of special root of a tree in the forest to make an ink that will stay on your skin for about two weeks. That evening I washed and it almost got erased, to come back with force the next day!

They use sticks which they dip in the ink and mark the body with it. Interesting how they come up with totally different designs every single time.

Adventurous greetings,
Coen

Nice update! Speaking of which where do you go to get these updates out? Little Internet cafe's?

They used to be, but more and more there are free wifi spots to be found in gas stations, Mc Donalds' and hotel lobbies. If everything fails, we will find a internetcafe.

Great pics,

I may have missed it in the thread but have you ever had any problems with the local law enforcement or locals in general? I do remember the incident with the guy that though you were a squatter.
