Colour Code Confusion (1 Viewer)

Ok, I messed up...
My HJ45 was originally white, and despite a colour change to grey, it retains an aftermarket white roof which matched the white dashboard. It was getting shaggy so I decided to repaint it.

I searched online and found the colour chart. The only white for 1977 is code 031. Easy.
I got some paint mixed up to Toyota 031.

When I opened the pot, I discover its beige. What's going on?

If I search online for "Toyota 031" I get a bunch of 40's that are clearly white, then a bunch of paint suppliers showing a beige swatch.
Who is wrong here?

My colour/ trim code says 33/51. Truck was assembled in Johannesburg fwiw.

Maybe the paint changes color when it dries. Silicon caulk can go on white and dries clear. My favorite is appliance white - spray can touch up anytime needed. My sis's 03 Dodge Ram need some body work, appliance white was a really good match.

Yea, nope. There's not a chance this will ever become white.
I have a feeling that it should actually be T12, but so many people here with white trucks say they are 031.

Washing machine or radiator paint is certainly very close to the right finish too. Tempting.

Interesting.. have I really been that stupid?
So why is Depot white 33 not on the colour chart??? Maybe because it was for special orders like police/ ambulances etc?
