Well,

It was looking like I was going to have to sell the rig. But I think I figured it out. We are just going to take the engine out....So far custums says that is fine and it looks like we should be able to get the inspection.

I was just starting to allocate the money I had for it to the 62 so I might have to slow back down.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the engine. I should have just taken it out while I was there but there was many reasons I did not. I think I'm just going to have them take it out..put it in one of our containers and bring it back.

It is not the original engine from the truck hence all the problems. But it is the exact same type of engine...it runs great and it just rebuilt so we will see if it makes sense to just sell it down there instead of brining it back...would be a good exuse for a diesel engine. But that just sounds like more work than I really want to do right now. Not to mention some of those diesels are not to cheap.

More to come in this long journey.

Good to hear.......seems like I heard that engine pull idea before though....hmmmm......

Nope,

I'm still working that one. Someone new took over but I'm still trying to convince him to give them to me. Our unit will be gone and off post before they can use them for any training with our current deployment cycle and following move to Eglin AFB in FL. I thought they were going to have to move them from their currentl location but I guess they got a stay. Hopefully I will know soon as we start shipping out very soon. Also I doubt the 1KZ-TE would be a decent swap for it becuase of the trannies and electrical.

the 1KZ-TE is actually not a bad swap, electrical is actually pretty simple, and tranny supports can be modified pretty easily.

Keep us posted on this one.

Back to not having to take the engine out. Fileing new paperwork to make everything legal....that is great...saves me a lot of work..I'll call later this week but who knows. Maybe it will ship out by August sometime...just in time for a fall ride. We will see.

I don't know much more about the specifics but will find out later..hopefully everything goes well.

More pics of how she sits now in the parking lot waiting to be shipped out. Should know more tomorrow if everything is OK. If it is then she should ship out of Bogota in about 2 weeks.

Back to decision time. Just got off the phone again. I guess they need MORE MONEY...of course they always need more money. Not sure if I am being taken here or not...luckily I have someone going back down who could take care of him if I am. I have a feeling even if we get past what appears to be the last step there may even be more and I'm just out more money.

Might just sell it and recoup my money. The way it has to be sold down there though it would only be worth about 3-4K so just enough to get the money I have out of it and pay the other owner of the car and the guys that helped me.

So I guess I'm going to throw the last couple hundred bucks in there and see if it works. If not I'll sell the darn thing and hopefully get my money back down there. Ohh well.

Well,

It sounds like all of the paperwork got done today. The paperwork will be picked up tomorrow and sent to Juan who is helping me ship it out of the country. I figure it might be able to be picked up next Thursday if I can get everything figured out and the money in the right spot and in time.

Guestimation right now if everything goes right for a pick up around the last week of August.

Greg...you still up for that trip with your trailer to Charleston?

NEED HELP

Guys,

I need some help here. Can anyone reccomend a Broker down in Charleston or anywhere that can help me get my FJ43 thru customs and out of the port so I can tow it home.

I'm not sure of the total costs but I just need them to take care of it. I have one or 2 contacts that I will call tomorrow but was thinking maybe someone on here could shed some more light on it.

All of the paperwork was complete and if I wasn't so damn busy at work (I'm still here and not leaving anytime soon) I would have it coordinated, the money sent, and be waiting for the truck to arrive in 2 weeks. Looks like it is going to be about 3 now.

Anyway any help here woudl be appreciated. Really wanting to pick this up by the end of Aug.

Of course even if I could get the thing for a few hundred bucks it would still probably cost me an arm and a leg to get it shipped and customs and all that Balogna that goes along with customs agents. Probably take months and a gillion man hours and arguing with the mafia just to get my car.

Post from 6 months ago...man was I right. For the amount I have in this darn thing I could have purchased Maria's and made more upgrades.

BUT who wants to go party in Charleston on a Friday and pick it up on a Saturday morning and come back. Tentative date is 11 September.
