Calmine 2013
Well, those who attended the coal mine event this year had a great time. Hot weather was the only factor on the negative side, otherwise an excellent event. Great wheeling for four days, great comaraderie and good friends. Rausch Creek is a great place to wheel and Twin Grove is a tremendous campground.
From the PA local in attendance were Bill Smith from Somerset, Tom Humphries and Angelo from Jersey, Matt Reed, and Todd Slater. Eric Oldenburg visited Saturday but was unable to get any wheeling in in his piggy. James Svederus from Lock Haven stopped in to see what was happening and got to wheel a bit in Tom H's 40. Todd had a rough day Saturday- we did some black trails on the northeast property and after scaring the heck out of his wife he had some problems- like losing a bead on a front wheel then breaking the centering pin on his driver side front spring pack. We all chipped in a got him to a cozy spot and made the repair. It always works out wheeling with friends- thanks to Tom and Carl from CT and everyone else who facilitated the repair.
The raffle was excellent- Matt Reed ended up going home with an Ironpig skid plate for his 80 and I got some freebies for the Fall Crawl (Virginia in September) and the Fall Gathering (New Hampshire in October). I can say that the Gotham City guys who run this event really have it down pat- a great event in every way.
Pig run scheduled for a weekend in September- not sure which weekend due to my work schedule but it will bein September. It will be a good opportunity to get out to wheel a bit and meet some of the other land cruiser enthusiasts in our area. Will post up here when I nail this down. Gary S
