What was the issue Steve? The caliper not hold the driveline? I haven't looked into them in a LOONNNGGG time, but curious what the method of failure was in your cases.
PitA to mount that rotor to the back of the flange if you still have the factory dust shields on the back.
When adjusted to hold tightly when set, it would drag a little when off which caused fast wear of the pads.
Pads were not as cheap as you'd think and weren't available without buying a whole assembly; it wasn't just the pads.
If you're not solidly locked in the axles and you park really flexed out, the rig can still roll due to differential "give".
The rotor was in the way of lifting the driveline when trying to do a simple 1-2" driveline tuck.
In some cases the bracketry isn't protected and gets bent up from traversing obstacles.

All this talk about soft lines has me thinking I need to do this on my 80. I have bled the pee out of them and can't seem to get rid of the soft pedal.

I'll sick by buddy Kevin on you....he preached to me on that (old brake hoses)....it sunk in...espically after I considered the hoses were 25 plus years old....and I knew from past experience that they need changing I just got caught up on other things. YOu cannot trust the outside appearance of a brake hose..especially given the age. Stock truck should not have spongey brakes....its either the MC or improper bleeding or potentially as i suggested the brake hoses, thats been my experience. Yeah...obviously you would want to check for integrity of the system (no leaking fluid).

I floated the question about leave (vacation time) to the big supervisor at work...so we'll see what "they" say. I'll lock it in as soon as I get concurrence....we have so many rules I'm not surprised we don't need a hall pass to take a break...

Been doing some reading myself.

Here's cheap and cheaper

Brake Pedal Depressor , Part # BP130 . Might want to modify so it doesn't slip off .

or

Solid Rubber HD wheel chock with eyebolt .

When you replace hyd brake hoses go with braided stainless . Just what I recommend and use .

Thanks for the input on the AllPro e-brake system @4xsteve . Save me a lot of pain and $ .

I actually carry the second ebrake set you showed there rocky. So I guess at this point it's a convenience thing lol.

Adding to the list of still to do.

Hardest part of the trailer build is finally done. I'd say the structural part of the build is about 98% complete now. Now time to figure out some ramps, rewire the whole thing including breakaway box, hook up the brakes (and pray they work), repack and tighten all bearings, and figure out some sort of rear support for when loading.

Then off to the races on the Gecko. Install new hydro ram, build new tie rod with heims, new gears into spare front diff, pull both diffs to tack weld all studs from the inside, fill trans & cases back up (no time to pull them for resealing at this point), and attempt to remedy annoying flat belly vibrations at idle. Gotta install brake controller in the semi too.

43 days to departure if my math is right, just in case anyone was wondering. :moon:

And tighten the lug nuts.....

That only happens to those crappy Land Cruiser things. Mini trucks don't have that issue.
;)

Speaking of beer. Bring beer from home. Beer in Utah is 3.2. Also if you buy beer in Colorado, don't buy it at the grocery store. It's also 3.2. Liquor stores have the real beer in Colorado.

Same in Utah. Real beer is in the state package stores. The one in Moab is REALLY popular especially considering it is next to the NAPA.

:)

And as I recall the state store is a bit pricey.

As for work to be completed, the IH fenders arrive tomorrow, have about 4 more days to complete tow rig, then a couple weeks on the trailer and a week on cruiser, may have it all done in time.

Haven't touched the Gecko yet, but did get the trailer moved out of the shop last night. Structurally, it is pretty much done now. Only major work left is to run the wiring including the breakaway box and hooking up the brakes. Still gotta figure out some ramps, but that's not a high priority since I have some 3"x10"x8' boards and some similar sized thin I-beams that can be utilized if needs be.
Word on the street is that next weekend will be a four-day for me, so that should be my golden ticket to finishing the majority of everything left on the to-do list. Good luck to everyone in their projects.
