Hey y'all passing along a life changing thing I didn't know about. But apparently when disconnecting the battery you may need to re-initialize the climate servomotor(s). Last two summers I've noticed significantly less air volume coming out my vents despite a rowdy full blast fan. I initially thought I had a blend door issue but came across this utility in TIS

SO MUCH WIND coming out of the vents now. Hope this helps someone.

Interesting. This could be maybe the cause why my AC mostly not hold the set temperature and mostly dont start to blow or rly late. - I disconnect my batteries kinda often…

Good stuff. It’s buried in the “after battery disconnect” page in my maintenance spreadsheet but I usually forget to do it.

I really should just buy a cheap windows laptop and get techstream

Ya, me too. Too bad there isn’t a group buy :)
"cheap" is relative, but I found a 12" macbook on craigslist for $200, installed boot camp, and it is perfect for diagnostics and even having on hand for trips. Another $70 or so for the VCX nano (the cheaper techstream modules don't seem to be full-function) and I'm in business.

When you get a chance, I’d appreciate if you could link to one of the many VCX nano techstream modules on eBay like you have. I’ll figure out what version of Windows I need. I know nothing of the PC platforms, but I’m trainable.

I bought mine about four years ago so the purchase isn't even in my ebay history anymore to refer a seller. I'd just find one of the non-wifi (for simplicity) versions from a highly-rated seller.

I will say the one issue I had is the anti-virus stuff built into windows wigged out about the TIS launcher that is needed to reset the license on techstream each time it is used. Plus the way it went about quarantining the file it made it a pain in the butt to re-enable it. Think: uninstall and reinstall repeatedly. Eventually it was white-listed but that part did throw me off for a minute. Now it works beautifully.

Even then, that was easier than setting up the mini-vci I tried to run before, which wouldn't do TPMS or live-data once I finally got it reading and resetting codes no matter what I did. I believe this was a limitation of that piece of hardware, which doesn't apply to the VCX-nano.

I think this is on windows 11 but I'm not sure. I am a mac guy other than this computer for diagnostics on my toyota.
