Went out today to do some investigating of a clicking sound that evolved from the front end axles. This clicking only happens when in 4WD and in HI or LO and only when in a tight turn left or right.
At first I was leaning towards it being the hubs were defected or needing some TLC but I took the shifter out of 4WD and put it in 2WD and left the hubs locks and the clicking sound went away leaving me to think this is a CV problem. Anyone concur or suggest a possible test.
Made a short video clip of making left and right sharp turns were the wheel stops are engaged. May have to turn up the old sound box.
Any suggestions welcome.:steer:

That's what I'm leaning to. All my years of owning LCs, never had one or any of the birfs fail or make noise.
Should mention that I greased filled the crap out of the L/R ball ends but still clicks.

Okay so it is a CV problem now I guess the thing to do is decide what set will fit my budget and do a good job for years to come. Seems as they all claim some kind of king of the mountain attitude in their product ( I guess it's to be expected). Was hoping that I could just replace the outer axle joint instead of the complete inner axle but not many offering that as an option. Also some say that a bit of grinding may be needed with their product, not going to do that, if they can't get it right when they make them then they can't be that great in quality control. Longfield mentioned that I believe.
G2, Dirty 30, Nitro 30/30, Longfield, EMPI, and RCV, lots to choose from.
Just for my information, what is causing the clicking when full Left or full Right while engaged, also when I remove them what should I be looking for in faults in the CV.
Thanks

Update:

Pulled the left side no better so going for some Nitros 30/30 for replacement CV brifs.
