For the last few weeks, I've had an intermittent FJ60 starting issue. I put the key in the ignition, turn it, gauges come on, click....nothing. Turn key again, starts fine. This has been repeating itself every few days until this AM.

Key in ignition, turn, click, gauges light up. Remove Key. Insert key, nothing, absolutely nothing.

Any ideas?

Start simple.. check your grounds and battery cables to ensure everything is good, then start with the starter and ensure it is working properly.. Battery in good condition?

Thanx for the reply. Battery is good, new mean green alternator keeps it happy. 4/0 welding ground cables installed, will check in a minute or two. What about starter solenoid?

might be the solenoid... also *could be* ignition switch @ steering column, but I don't know how one would test that. You now get no gauges lighting up?

There was a very similar on here a few days ago.

The guy finally worked out that it was his starter motor earth caked in mud and was getting a bad earth.

So exactly as stated here, keep it simple and check your earth leads:D

if no obvious issues with the wiring and battery.....its very likely the starter.

Loose battery cables, loose connections, etc..
