Looking for a clean, relatively low mileage 04-07 100 series LX or LC with good history to buy within 30 days!! Cash in hand. Looking for the right vehicle. Located in Florida but will have it picked up and shipped for the right deal.

This will be used to tow behind our motorhome across the US and use to haul around our kids so reliability and safety are crucial. I needed a vehicle that can haul at least 5 people, cargo and gear and get us to and from the middle of nowhere without major mods.

Thanks!!

There are quite good deals in the range of 12k-15k for less than 100k miles

20k is insane

This will be my first 100 series so I'm not sure what a 'good deal' is or isn't. I do know how to exhaust the lexus/toyota maintenance records search, Carfax etc etc and I've looked at just about every vehicle being publicly offered for sale online. I've also researched the heck out of the vehicle to make sure its what I want to get thanks to so many good folks on this forum. There are no local cars for sale around me that I've seen so im hoping the brain trust on here will help out!!

Price isn't really a factor so much as it is finding the right truck.

I've not listed it for sale yet, as I'm not done working on it. That said I'm certainly open to offers any time. If agreement is reached, we'd write up a letter of agreement (LOA) w/deposit and set a delivery date. Buyer then becomes boss, and I'll do extra work as boss would like along with all work I'm doing to bring back into spec.

OK. I'd be looking to stay basically stock. So what is the basic price range on this? Not asking for a firm sales price but at least the range for $$$ you are looking to get. We don't need to waste each others time if we are light-years apart, right. I'm a serious searcher for a quality low mileage LC 100 in later model years. Currently have 2001 LX470 that I'd sell, but I'm a cash buyer without doing that. The color is a bit rare and very cool. The pictures and description so far look good. I'm in Texas but would fly to where and drive it home.

PM sent.

What made it a Unicorn?

Oh, I see. Often I see someone use the term Unicorn referring to very clean low mile. But that's not really a Unicorn in my book, just hard to find.

Typically a Unicorn is a 03-07 no NAV, which I've only seen in Land Cruiser. I've never seen or heard of any LX470 in those years without NAV. So was wondering if you found one! Sometimes I see 98-02 no NAV referred to as Unicorn, they are not. 98-02 LC & LX are readily available.

Except for special order, the 03-07 LC imported into lower 48 of USA all had NAV. HI & PR received no NAV LC so are not considered Unicorn in those states.

06-07 without factory AHC are rare, but not consider a Unicorn.

07 were the least of all 100 series imported.

I once saw a picture of a 2005 with VVT engine listed in SoCA. But it could have been the seller used a picture that was not of his 05, but an 06 or 07 file photo. So jury is still out on whether a 2005 100 series with VVT was ever produce for the USA market.

Nice reply. No nav, no AHC are big plus to me. Low miles for sure. You know your details. Informative. Yeah, 98-02s everywhere. Your garnet is a beauty.

Is there a reason that folks prefer no nav?

I assume people don't want the AHC because its expensive to repair/replace.

Sorry for the ignorance. I am still learning about these things in search for my first one.

IMHO. No nav is good because it is out if date without paying. Who needs it these dsys. AHC will be a maintenance item by 150K. Just my thoughts. I replaced mg AHC rathet than repair. Went with OME lift instead.

I personally like the ahc. If It fails, is be replacing with an OME suspension anyways.

Ah yes the no-NAV is truly what would make it a unicorn.

Just so I understnd, 06-07s sport the VVT engine, which is a different motor presumably to meet emissions requirements?? Or is it a better motor and the trouble with some of the 06-07s were the o2 sensors?

No NAV means different things, here's a few I can think of:
  1. Separate climate control. (My personal favorite.)
  2. Easily upgrade to modern stereo and or NAV w/ high res screen.
AHC
I like AHC for: "H" working under, "L" for working on top or loading or hooking up trailer. When AHC system working well it's sweet to dial in for road condition. But even in a well maintained systems, the globs will fail. It's components are pricey. So high maintenance cost is big draw back.

Non AHC or standard Land Cruiser suspension; is robust, reliable, inexpensive to maintain and is easily upgraded for built rig weight or lift. For off road or third wold it's the only way to go.

VVT
Does have addition emission reducing features.

But what we care about is the sport car feel to it. With it's better acceleration and passing ability, they fly over the mountain passes with near the easy of the 200 series' 5.7L duel cam VVt heads.

Here are just a few of the changes.
Redesigned intake has 8 butterfly along the top which open as less torque needed at high speeds, adding to high end power curve. This along with the VVT (variable valve timing) improves HP and MPG over 70 MPH also. Some have fitted these intakes on non VVT 2UZ-fe

It also has oil jet under each piston.

They also made some changes to metals and shapes. Valves, pistons an such.

The AI system will need servicing and like starter is under intake.

The O2 or A/F sensor issue, seems confined to 06, possible early 06. We've not heard a lot of this in 07. But this could be due to so few 07 made. It could be due to a batch of sensors, we don't know. But easy fix if one swaps out sensor, rather than CAT as some have done.
