3" Pipe - pretty much unrestricted front to back. Not sure if ATEB bent the pipes or sends them out but man what an awesome exhaust

Pretty sure they just buy the mandrel-bent U-tubes and cut and weld as necessary. There aren't many people in the lower mainland that can mandrel-bend 3".

My truck showed up from Japan with 2.5" mandrel-bent stainless exhaust and a stupid cannon with a 6" tip on it. Of course there were also the pair of 2" crush bends right at the downpipe. I immediately replaced the muffler because it was so bloody embarrasing driving around like that....even in Richmond. I'm going to do a full 3" in the next couple of months. Should help...

Yep - it's 45's and elbows - all the connections are out of sight above the frame members so all I've seen is pipe - and no bling on the end.

Pump setups are never acomplished by individual parts but by adjustments. Put a non-standard part in a pump and a vehicle when you don't know if/when/how/why it's been messed with before and all bets are off.

By altering the fuel/boost curve you can make the fuel quantity matching the air quantity a bit closer, at the expense of higer temperatures and earlier smoke at high loads. This can be a good or a bad thing depending on how (far) it's done. The "magic power rod that fits anything" is just BS. The "rod" is only used by those who have no clue about fuel injection adjustments, because there's almost nothing you can't adjust with the stock rod that you could with the power rod. It can be really useful only at very high boost where the stock lever runs out of travel. Yes you guessed it that thing was designed for competition engines, where smoke and long-term reliability don't matter much anymore.

IMHO :flipoff2:

Well this isn't a "magic power rod that fits anything" according to the manufacturer it is for stock or mildly modified 1HD-T's. It comes straight from a well know (in Japan) manufacturer, I believe the company name is Zema, apparently these guys specialize in these motors. And they do reccomend a turbo controller to get the max benifit.

Hey Dan the link you posted goes to the diesel kits section (for Ford and Dodge) and are 4" kits... Did you use the 3" truck kit?? Or do they make a universal that I'm not seeing here??

Biggest improvement I've experienced with my 1HD-T has been the Aero Turbo exhaust system

... or no muffler at all and a straight pipe :smokin:

Hey guys just a lurker here for the most part but have been troubled with high egt and lack of power on hills. I recently was in to see Dan and picked up a power rod, the install was easy and fast. Performance change well yes. but only above 2600 rpm, the down side was a huge loss of performance below 2400 so much so that the truck wouldn,t spool up enough to move if stopped on a hill. So on the highway the truck really ripped and egt was lower if anything, but for normal driving and my work driving in the back country it was pathetic. so back to the factory rod for me and normal parameters were restored. When i get back to the city i will try the rod again and spend more time messing with other adjustments, but for now i am not convinced it is a wonderful thing. Cheers

I have a 3 inch madrel bent exhaust with aeroturbine muffler, works great, sounds nice, lotsa power, love it.

Can someone please post a picture of this magical rod.

Thanks.

Louis

Dan is a salesman, not a mech and not mechanicly inclined. he sells what makes money, simple as that. if you need a hard to find part then Dan is your man but if it comes to getting advice he is not recommended (well, by me anyway).

if it sounds too good to be true then it usually is. you wnat more power? then install a pyro and meter your fuel properly. play with your boost, install propane assist, install an intercooler, install larger exhaust...

the HDT is a great engine, fuel economy should be 25-30 mpg. the lower the rpm, the better the fuel milage will be. if you have a manual then you are going to be reving the s*** out of it at 120, if it is an auto then 120 is acceptable but if you want better milage then drive 90, lower rpms, the better the fuel economy.

it really is that simple

Hmmm he did say "a picture", not a thumbnail! :hhmm:

Sorry, nothing personal, you probably just lifted the picture from some website, but it's one of my pet peeves: considering most of you are on broadband, to post ridiculously small 'pictures' to show anything is simply incomprehensible to me...

Just like the guy who has a 10 megapixel camera and proudly posts 'large' (cough-cough) ONE megapixel images up and looks at his pictures on his brand new 'widescreen', 'high definition' monitor with a 'staggering'... TWO megapixel image resolution!!!

GAW!!!

Chris with, a THREE megapixel camera and an 'antique' CRT computer monitor running at, you guessed it: THREE megapixel...

BTW, great site, I presume the numbers are in Yens, that 3 to 5 inch suspension kit looks very affordable at 119,000 yens, considering all the incuded parts!
