I had my ome installed yesteday and after driving about 20 miles later in the day my check engine light came on. It's a code 28, is there anything that could of happened during the install that would make the light come on. Anything to check for? It seems to be too much of a coincidence for it to come on the same day... maybe i should just reset the light and see if it reoccurs

Thanks,
ERIK

You did not state the vehicle you are working on, I will assume a 91-94 80 series. Code 28 is a #2 oxygen sensor. Did you disturb the O2 sensors or wires while you were installing the lift? It is possible that you did, especially if you removed the control arms to install the caster bushings.

Yeah, sorry, it's a 1993. The guy who did it wasn't comfortable putting in the bushings so I'm still going to get that done somewhere else. I don't think they took off the control arms though since he didn't even get as far as opening up the bushings package. He saw the instructions from the slee how to and decided he didn't want to try. What should I check for to see if something was messed up?

thanks,
ERIK

I agree with Rick. Since the RH control arm is the only component remotely close to the sensors it is likely bad luck and nothing you did.

Again, as Rick inquired, how many miles and do you know if the oxygen sensors have ever been replaced? I suspect you will need new ones.

180k, i'm the 2nd owner and am not sure if they've ever been replaced. I guess I should check to see if they have because I still might be covered by a recall, right? Thanks for the help..

The campaign has most likely been done already, very few have not. It was probably 8 or 9 years ago and it will be time for new ones.

If you care to PM your VIN to me I will be glad to check for you to see if it has been done.

Yes it did, I answered you. It has been done.
