Holy shackle angle bat man...

I had that same problem. But instead of swapping leaves, I ground out the rivits and move the shackle hanger forward 3inches....Ride much improved, droop much improved.

Back when I had quarters... I remade them with 1/8inch plate and after pounding my tuck off rocks it looked like a beer can, but those quarters where the only panles that remained straight. Might be a good combination with a tube bumper that will still let stuff poke thru inbetween the tubes.

I like the rear 1/4 protetion idea but like the tow hooks on my current bumper. Seems like it needs to be strong enough so you can have a recover point or hook on each side too that can take a hard tug.

Jim,

I would purchase something that would protect my rear 1/4 panels that bolts on like my solid rock offroad sliders. How hard would it be to make a rear mini slider with the side rails to bolt up to the frame? The main issue would be the tailpipe on the drivers side but it could be relocated.

X2, would be nice to see.

I've thought a more economical front bumper of similar design could be very popular as well.

I just put one of the MC rear bumpers on my buddy's runner. Real nice work. Looks great. And for the price, my gosh, my buddy could have front & rear bumpers as well as sliders, and probably a winch, cheaper than I could spend on a rear bumper for my 60. Kinda sad when you think of it that way.

Cheap rear bumper .. with tire carier .. try win me .. :D

That it's cheap ( and still heavy but function pretty well )

Exactly my point!!!

Now you've done it David... There is concrete evidence that you've been out wheelin since the rebuild and havent posted pictures or video!!! Let's see the rest!

can do!!!!!!!!

if you are willing to move the exhaust tip, piece o' cake :D

yeah, I might give Marlin a buzz tomorrow. I'd be interested to see what 2bad comes up with too if he's serious. I think that if someone where to come up with something like marlin's bumper at about that same price they'd walk into a gold mine...

Hmmm, maybe I should finally break down and get a tube bender.

Hey guys, I'm Dave from Marlin's. Weak-link pm'd this thread. I don't think the bumpers would fit. The inside of the main tube is 64"( body width). The frame mount bracket spacing is 41.5" (out side of frame) from the inside.

One thing that makes the our rear bumpers are priced so low ( for being 100% American Made) is the quantity we have ordered. By ordering a 12 month supply we greatly reduced the cost of the tubing compared to the old days of buying 10 sticks at a time. We could easily produce a small run or even easier, one at a time per order. The cost would how ever be slightly higher because the tubing would not be the same dimensions as the min truck tubing. This is why our Tacoma bumpers are price higher. They are still hand bent while the mini truck stuff is CNC bent.

We are pretty busy right now around the first of October I bet I can get Weak-Link to let us his 60 and we can make up a prototype. Then if you guys like it and we can keep the cost in reason we should proceed with a 60/62 rear bumper.

Thanks Dave

About darned time you logged on here. If Jason does not want to loan you his 60 you can borrow mine. When your are done building it take it up to Bald Mountain and take it down Bumper Bust hill or take it through the Rubicon and see how it holds up. You can just let me know when you are done with it. My rear quarters are already slightly damaged so if the bumper does not hold or needs beefed up it will not really harm anything.

Now the big question for me is how would marlin (talking to you dave) do the quarter protection. That is gonna be a major difference amonst our trucks, especially those with cut quarters or those who wheel hard. My quarters are trashed as hell, so they are getting chopped off as high as i can go without getting into the filler neck on the passenger side and capped. That means what i need (and what a lot of others need) would never work with a stock truck.

Something to think about at least.

I just put the marlin bumper on the rear of my hilux and will love it once it is done....

although Matt (agent orange) brings up a great point - the 60 bumper really depends on if you cut your rockers or not. I think it is beneficial to cut the rockers, but you lose the whole bolt on ability if you also require the cut of the rockers.

maybe there needs to be 2 versions...one for cut and one for uncut rockers...

or maybe I just need another beer :grinpimp:

later!

I guess my truck is a little to different for such a bumper to work well, seeing as i have and inch of body lift on it as well. Unless a second set of holes could be incorporated into the plates that bolt to the frame.

I think the cut quarters version and the stock version is the best idea.

I think its safe to assume the person that is after a bumper like this is also the same person that has probably cut off their rockers/quarterpanel....

Cruserdave... thanks for logging in and sharing your ideas. I think that the bigger companies like Marlin, All-pro, and trail gear, Metal Tech, and even Jim as he's getting bigger, etc are missing a huge demographic not producing products for us waggy guys like they do for the mini and 40 series guys. I'd love to see some tube doors too.

SROR's basic bumper is only $385, why not go that route? tougher and looks a damn site better than a goofy tube bumper.
