Anyone know of a true fit oil filter wrench - cup style (or similar) for the newer smaller filters. Amazon turned up nothing - or just a bit confusing. I may have to take one of my YZZD3's down to the zone and match one.

I use large channel locks for the YZ filter on my 80, just need to move it a smidge to get it going.

I have an old "turny filter" wrench from a garage sale. It has never failed me on at least half a dozen rigs.
They are all over ebay for less than $20.

What engine are you running? If a late F or 2F what I do is poke a hole in the top of the filter and let the oil the filter drain out. Then put a piece of tape over the hole. This prevents most of the mess when removing the filter. Our 04 4Runner with the 4.7 V8 uses the smaller filter. I use one like you pictured I bought from O'Reilly's. Fits the Toyota filter fine.

Since the big cans are NLA, I've switched to a Motorcraft FL-1A
